To whom it may concern: I have a 71' Skylark, 3 year restoration completed one year ago. It is done in GM's C10 white. Has a standard Skylark hood but with Gloss Black stripes painted and cleared in. GSX stripes in Gloss Black, Spoiler included. Has a 455BBB with a 700R4 trans. Buick Console and Shifter, Chrome Steering Column, 342 Limited Slip diff. Has a Vintage Air pkg. New Bucket seats and New cover on rear seat done in Buick Stitching by PUI of LaGrange, KY. Rear of Spoiler has decal that says " Skylark by Buick." I'm not pretending it is a GSX or Clone, I just love the GSX look and have a Skylark Budget. Would my car be welcomed at BG Nationals and can I enter the show or do I stay in Monticello, KY? I can post pics when my daughter comes by.
Yes, your car would be welcome at the GS Nats. I'm not sure what class you would be in at the show, but I'm sure they would find a place for your car.
There was another thread concerning the wording of the classes. It is a bit odd in that modified skylarks really seem to have no specific class designated for the show. My car(s) are in the same boat. That said, you and your car would be welcomed with open arms I'm sure as the more the merrier. I'm sure they'd find you a spot.
The car show is just a small part of the Nats experience. It’s actually a welcome pause in a near week of sensory overload. Race fuel, tire smoke, grills, unmuffled big blocks and nails, whooshing and buzzing turbos, an overload of glossy paint and chrome, hoots, hollers and laughter. The sound of old and new friends enjoying a common passion at the track, campground, streets, restaurants and hotel parking lots. Even a few fireworks set off by the Mustang guys. Show up with a smile and a Buick, you’ll be welcomed! Patrick
Sounds like it would be another car to fit in the Buick powered non-GS/GN class that they had last year but not this year. Would love to see it, bring it.
