   Jason,
   
   They are referring to the brackets to mount the shorty console (not the consolette) they are wrong in saying 4 speed because could be used with an Automatic less console.
   
   I did have a reference somewhere where they were welded to floor, it was also posted on this board at one time.

   That would explain it. In all my years of collecting Buicks and parts, I never came across a shorty console in any car I owned or parted out. Mystery solved
