I seem to recall seeing somewhere that the Burgundy Mist BBB GS cars were pretty rare - something like 44 or so total? Any ideas on production numbers?
Here is a link to information about colors <img src ="http://www.buickhorsepower.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/1970gscolors.png">
This seems like one of the more rare colors offered as a standard color (non-SCO color), with Aqua Mist and Black being close. I also had no idea that Black was so rare as well?
I have production numbers for a lot of cars, and you have to put yourself back in 1970 to understand why black is so rare. At best, black was a middle-of-the-road color for muscle cars. It did not have the performance imagine that it does today. Black was more common for more formal vehicles like Cadillacs and Buick Electras. For the GTO, Mint Turquoise (Aqua Mist) is the rarest color save Orbit Orange, which was a Judge-only color. To contemporary eyes the color looks great but perhaps back then it wasn't such an interesting color.
Earth tones were the rage back then. Look at the highest production numbers on that list, good ole Buick Brown(Burnished Saddle):TU: Followed by Bamboo Cream
Hi, I would be interested in this production info too. I have a 70 gs 455 convertible, 4 speed in burgundy mist, black interior. Thanks, Fred
