Well, after 41 years I finally took the gastank out of the 69 to hopefully find the build sheet.Since I'm the original owner I was pretty sure it would be there.
I carefully removed the tarpaper and ,elation, a perfect sheet was there. With only 18k miles on the car it looks like it was just laid on there.
Elation turned quickly however as the Vin # was 28 cars off!!
Most of the options are correct: manual brakes,4speed,non AC etc.
How can it be 28 cars away? I've heard of 1 or 2,but 28? the build date is correct too. All other #'s on the car match; motor, trans, rear, carb, dist etc.

Do I have a build sheet from someone on the board? I'll give it to the right car if its still alive.
The Vin ends in 582, if you have a 69 GS400 4speed that may match please contact me.

If someone has a build sheet from a 69 GS400 that doesn't match your car please contact me too.

I 'm not sure whats worse, finding the wrong one, or not finding one at all.

Sorry to hear that, Gary. I've removed my original carpet. Nothing. Seats. Nothing. Tank had been dropped in the past. Nothing there. My last hope is when I pull the dash apart. I've heard they had been know to be jammed in behind there. Best of luck finding yours!

Also, if you could, PLEASE send me a scan or pic of the sheet...

That suks..... Its weird how most Wilmington built cars have multiple correct build sheets in them and many Flint cars don't have any or the wrong one:Dou:

Maybe you will find hidden somewhere else in the car..

Gary, I know the feeling, I have a buildsheet that is five (5) cars from mine.

Kevin, FWIW, While scavenging for parts at the junk yard last summer I found a build sheet tucked in at the bottom of the driver side A-pillar. Might be a place to look...

Years ago I found the original build sheet in a `68 GTO, and still attached to it was the build sheet for the car that was built just before it, a `68 Lemans station wagon.

There are a lot of places these things can turn up. Behind the seats, under the carpeting and under the floor insulation. I found one on a `69 Chevelle SS396-375hp that was behind the front fender on top of the cowl and still stuck to some seam sealer. I also found one on top of a glove box.

My flint car, GS400 4 speed, no build sheet. VIN ends in 508:af:

I was exicted for a second, because I knew it was 5XX. Damn, so close. I like to see it as well. Maybe the numbers are goofed up? Would like to compare options, etc.

Looks like your VIN is close to mine:bglasses:

My GSX had the car 10 before it on the gas tank was from March 5th. The body sheet was in the A-pillar was correct from early February.
My '70 Skylark Racecar from Kansas City had two, one for a Chevy with a 4-speed, something that went to NW Territory in Canada, and the right one for the car on the gas tank.
My '68 GS350 and '68 GS400 both from Wilmington, DE, the build sheets were in the seat. The 350 car was able to put most of it back together, the 400 car only found the corner with the dealership name, some Dorschel Buick in Rochester, NY, the 350 was from PA.

thanks for all the input guys, yes I will post a pic.
    Joe, you crack me up.
Roberta,I'll be checking for the other sheets.I've already looked under the seats, nada. Maybe the pillar post will give up the gold.
If not I guess the tar paper under the carpet is next.
rich, man that was close, wish it matched.

You had me worried Gary. I hadn't checked the build sheet on my 70 against the vin number. Fortunately everything matches.

I wonder if we could create a sticky, where you could post the extra build sheets? Being a 69, my only hope is that someone found mine under a different tank? I know one does not exist in my car. I would love to find it:TU:

NO! back then we couldn't hardly wait to get home to scrape off that window sticker.Who'd guess I'd still have it after all these years. Then,if some one had a car for more than 4 years it was unusual.
