Had a great time in Flint for Buick's 100th anniversary. Took my '70 Stage 1 out there(with the help of Doug Hecker-thanks Doug) in Doug's enclosed trailer. This event was absolutely great! Happy Birthday Buick!
Your car is beautiful! Wish I could've met you...I think we brushed shoulders once or twice, but I didn't know your face. A very happy birthday it was:beer
Staged Carl - Super nice GS! Those years of hard work really paid off! Good to see you! Hey, post some pic's! - Bill :TU:
I think I have a few black and white shots of Carl's car....I just hope that wasnt the roll that Walgreens ruined last night.:af: :af: :af: :af: :af:
Seeing Carl haul a$$ all over Flint in that beautiful Desert Gold Stage-1 was thanks enough. I even got to drive the car 20 miles to a cruise night out in the countryside. What a blast! The event was fantastic and I honestly feel bad for all of you who couldn't make it. There will probably never be another gathering of Buicks that large again. I heard there were over two thousand Buicks in the show!! I'm not particularly a "car show guy", but this one just blew me away! I hope everyone made it home safely. Later, Doug.
Doug, Didn't you test drive the car at the race track and........ummmmm ....get the big red eye?????? Lon
Here's a great shot of Carl's GS on the road, but wait a minute here...Doug Hecker is at the wheel:Brow: Carl was kind enough to let Doug take her out for a cruise. Have to say though good ole Dougy was a good boy and light on the pedal, I guess he saves that heavy foot for his '65. Rick
Hey, Doug - aren't you the one that did the burn-out in the hotel parking lot with your truck??? It left quite a patch, for all to see! ShariB
A. In the first place, I redlighted at the track in John Stevens' brown GS. Carl didn't bring his car to the track because he broke a rocker shaft a couple of hours after that picture was taken and the track rental was the following day. He got it fixed thanks to Roberta and her unending supply of Buick parts. B. The reason I redlighted THIS time was because I'm not used to foot-braking a manual brakes car on the line. I trans-brake the 65, and the T-Type has power brakes so it's a different feel. The second that I began to bring up the rpms the car rolled out on me. I guess I needed to STAND on the brake pedal or not rev it against the convertor. C. It was definitely NOT me doing a burnout with my truck!! I wouldn't want to beat on my old Suburban that far from home. How would I get Carl's car home if I dropped the driveshaft out of my truck? That's the same reason I wouldn't race it in Bowling Green in the "tow vehicle race" that they held out there. D. Now that I have put all the misconceptions about me to rest, I can go take a nap!
Sorry! I just now remembered the truck had an Ohio plate! Wrongly accused! It was still a cool burnout. ShariB
Thats easy.....roll the truck into the trailer and tow it with Carls GS !!! Save that for when you're lined up against Rick at Englishtown ou:
Alan, You mean IF Rick gets his car ready for E-Town, don't you? That is very much a question mark at this point. I WILL, however, be happy to pound him into dust if he gets his act together. :spank: . Later, Doug.
So Doug I didn't know you red lit in John Stevens caro No: geez some things just never change. Either late or early, just never on time. I guess we'll have to see at E-Town. Anyway, here is another shot of a mild mannered Doug behind the wheel:Brow:
Burnout I'll take credit for those two L O N G burnouts...with a diesel, no less. Just be glad I left it in 2 wheel drive and didn't smoke all 4 tires!!! BTW, I'm much better looking than Doug...
Re: Burnout Brad: I looked for you there but never saw you. At least I got to hear you in the middle of the night. Sounded like TW Sammuels at work!
Jim, You were @ the AmeriHost in Grand Blanc? We had the maroon Excursion parked there. I will take credit for the burnouts, but I had NOTHING to do with the fireworks! I swear! Mr. Speedo grin: ) from Indiana can take credit for that one....
Yes we at the back, 2nd floor. . Heard the fireworks both nights. Loved the car. What a job Duane did on the interior.
Thanks, Jim. Yeppers, Duane is "The Man". A real great guy to boot. We were riding around in a golf cart Thursday, Friday & Saturday (not a "yellow shirt" worker, just in street clothes) with a Sheltie (minature collie) riding with us. Didn't spend a lot of time around my car...there was too much else going on! I hope to see you next August at the BPG meet!
