Well since I don't see a thread on it this year.....

October 16th is the annual Buick vs Ford shootout at Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma. I'm posting this in hopes that we'll get more V8 participation as we desperately need all the consistent V8 help we can get. lol

The race format is team vs team based on qualifying order. Team Ford number one qualifier races Team Buick and on down the line. Total team victories decides the event winner. Team Buick is technically a BOP team as Pontiacs, Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles can come join us as well as GMC trucks(any Syclone/Typhoon guys in here?). I also want to see a GMC with a Duramax diesel come down and show some of the Powerstroke Ford guys what a tailgate looks like too. lol

This event is far and away the most fun I have every year. Some years(such as this one)I've only ran one event and this one is it. Currently team Ford is ahead 9 to 6. Last year we cleaned them up pretty good but I expect they will want revenge and stack their team with some heavy hitters. Team Buick is predominately Turbo V6 cars and as much as I love them too(I have two myself)it is so cool to see a hard charging BBB going down the track. Looking for some others to come out and show the Fords what happens when the V6 guys call their big brother into the fray.

So, What say you V8 guys, interested in burning some rubber and smokin' some Fords?

Strangely enough, I cannot find it either. This is one of the biggest Buick rivalry events out there. We need a strong showing from the V8 Buick crowd more than ever!

Wow, no other replies other than us a this point.

Should I feel saddened that the V8 community doesn't race much to show off that Buick power? Or do I understand that since times are tough people just can't spare the change necessary to come to Oklahoma and help Team Buick get a W.

Not quite sure at this point. All I know is it seems like a very small group of us V8 guys out there are helping spread the Buick message AGAINST OTHER BRANDS in events such as this instead of cannibalizing each other in Buick only events. Gets kinda lonely sometimes out there ya know.

PS: The V6 guys still show up in force....are they more racy than the original muscle guys who put Buick power on the map? God I'd like to think not but it does seem like it, which IS sad.

I posted something a while back to see if anybody was going, and only had one other post.

Tyler has been working on his car, and did get it fired up this week and spent some tuning time on the dyno the past few days. But, determined that he needs new valve springs with the new cam, so we are not going to be able to make it to Nobel this year.

We had a blast last year, and had one of the few A body V8 cars out there. I hope some others go. Hopefully, we can make it next year.

I got some videos of this event, if you go to youtube and search for "Ford vs. Buick 2010 Noble Oklahoma Thunder Valley" there are a lot of my videos. Had a great time again this year and I am looking forward to bringing an 11-12 second GN next year and hopefully my Skylark.
