How can I get the best performance out of it with very little changes?

    Hi, Buick1356.

A good tune-up will probably be the first thing to do.
But you did not mention the type of Buick you have, if it is a 2 or 4 barrel carburator, nor what type of transmission you have.

Buick Iran? Is that where you live?
I know they where making Cadillac's there before, but did not know of Buick's.

BTW, what's your name? & welcome to the board.

    Buick tunining

Thank you so much for replying to my post. These are very good questions. The problem is that I have no idea how much horsepower this thing has nor what kind of carburator. I assume it is 2 barrel. I just know that the model supposedly is a Buick Iran B3, which means that it has automatic transmission. It was built 1977 and I guess only for Iran. The engine size is 350 cubic inches. Here in Iran I can easily get a blazer engine 400 cubic inches. I thought then I can tune this engine instead of my own. But at the same time our resources are very limited regarding tuning kids and so on. So I need simple instructions. Appreciate some ideas.

My name ist Frank I am german but I live in Iran for thyrteen years now. Nice to meet you Per!

Oh by the way the number 1356 is the year my car has been built in the persion calander which is translated into ours means 1977.
Next time I am going to take a picture of my car.

    Buick build in Iran????????

    Hi, Frank.
    Wie gets?

Please don't change the engine, keep it a Buick.
I am sure you can get the original engine to function very good with a couple of adjustments.

Would be very intresting to see your VIN #, (located on the dash, driver side, and to be read through the windscreen). Also the engine #.

When you remove the airfilter, do you have two or four "holes" looking at you?

See if you can find out what engine you have from this page:

    http://www.buicks.net/shop/engine_ident.html

Also found this page that confirm that a Buick's was made in Iran.

    Very interesting, please send pics.

My sister lives in Iran, she talked to me on the phone and told me she saw 3 pre-1980 Buicks yesterday. She also told me that old Buicks are more common in Iran than they are in Canada.
Here are two pictures of one that looks like a 79 Skylark in Teheran that she took a few months ago.

Frank, does your engine looks like that?

This is a Buick 350 in my 74 LeSabre. Unlike the other GM 350 engines, the Buick 350 has it's distributor mounted in front. Newer ones are blue and have a different air filter.

Here are pictures of other GM 350 engines. unless you have the Chevy vrsion, the Chevy 400 won't bolt to your car's transmission.

    Hi Phil.
Your sister seems more interested in Buicks than my wife, (which really does not say much). Is she married?

Frank, as soon as you, (we), find out what engine/"car" you have, we should be able to get you, (through the expertice on this board), the info you need.

As the car was produced in Iran, normal parts should be available locally?
If not, parts from the US are not that difficult, but customs and shipping might be more of a problem, as here in Lebanon. Anything over $100 need clearing agents, etc.

If you need something, you could also check www.oldbuickparts.com. My advice is to put in a smal order first to see how it works out with the local auth.

    Salama aleikum, Per.
