I saw a guy at local car show today with BOP bell housing 9774085 or 9774035. I cannot seem to locate that number to verify the application. Can you identify its application?
9774035 Group 00 0.683 Housing, Flywheel 1 9774035 1964-67/ ALL ST EXC 400 ENG From my parts manual I have on CD. Karl
Thanks Karl Do you read that as exluding the 401 nailhead engine? (I Presume that would exlude the 425 also but it does not seem to say that). So for those years what is left --a 300 cid and a 340 cid? So is this housing limited to a 300 and a 340 engine?
I checked my bellhousing today and it is 977035. It's a buick only housing with provision for the passenger side starter. I have it on a 300V8 using a 10 1/2" flywheel/clutch, Saginaw 4 speed and a generic GM clutch fork and boot.
Thanks It must be a "3" and the same number as yours. From the part number spec my question for the naihead guys is "Is it correct that a 300 cid or 340 cid bellhousing will not work on a 401 or 425 nailhead 4 speed set up?"
Jim, I'm not 100% positive but I don't think this bellhousing will fit the 401/425. I know for sure it won't fit a 215V8. The guy I bought it from said it would fit the 300/340/350/400/430/455, but I'm not sure an 11" flywheel would work with it.
Jim, My '66 parts book shows # 9774035 being used with 1964-66 225(V6)-300-340 engines. It will not fit a nailhead....only the 'round-top- nailhead bellhousings fit nailheads. pn is 1373725 for 1966....
Thanks I suspected the 300 and 340 but never would have thought about the v6 being the same. If you know someone that needs one I have a friend that got one with some other parts who would sell. It is probably an item for which there is little demand but cannot be found when you need it.
