    gary,
we have a hodge podge motor assy. nothing extreme. i dont tune it to the max. if we did tune it right, we'd be in the 9's. nos would put us way down. but if it sounds good, thats it. we run a b&m s/c just to keep the old look. lot of guessing.

it would be nice to get a real good pic of the new s/p so i can see if a 4-71 will work on it. go alky or add nos and we may see the 8's. but i'm getting old and slow. so...........

btw, we could run hi 10's just on carb. add nos....whoppee...lol

Do you think maybe a girdle would allow you to really "turn up the wick"?

girdle.....if 'the driver' keeps gaining weight, HE will need a girdle.

being an old school machinist, I took a long time touching, feeling and hugging this block. I have a lot of faith(and money) in it.
    no girdle for me.

Finally got to the 1/8th mmile track on Saturday.
The twin turbo 350 car ran like a turd. ( see atached time slips)
When I added the turbos, I should have pulled the tranny, it shifts crisp & hard, But I m positive it has a stock converter & was a total "dog" out of the hole. Also snapped my throttle cable the night before & did not have a replacement. It appears I measured wrong with the one I made, 21.25' long instead of 20.25', which would explain the secondaries never opening until 5000 rpm. Also never got out of second gear in the 1/8th. Pretty disappointed in myself not the car. At least it looked good, for the most part. Thinking I need a 3000 stall to make this thing get up & go.

I don't think the convertor is your biggest problem. I doubt I can help you on the phone, but something is wrong. You should easilly be in the low 8s or upper 7s even with a crap convertor.

The stock 350 throttle cable worked fine with a Barry Grant/ Holley Carb. If you need to adjust it, just BEND the gas pedal linkage. The rod going up to the cable from the pedal. Adjujst it so it opens the blades all the way, but does not put stress on the carb.

Looks like your boost isn't coming up fast enough. Retune engine and fix cable. But I would change convertor also. Seeing as I have an 84 gn and put a 3000 convertor it spools much quicker.even with 2 barrels it should boost up fast.

I have read this thread with some interest. I want my SBB powered wagon to run fast, run well, and be reliable. It is first and fore most a street car. But who says a street car cannot be high HP.
My problems is place to work on it. You cannot even call me shade tree, as I have no trees to work under. I have to do it in the apt building parking lot, and they frown on working on vehicles. My access to power is 100 ft away. But I do the best I can. Another problem is what a lot of people face $$$$$. That kind of ties into the Apt living. I wold love to have a place to work on my wagon. I have over 12k worth of Snap-On tools getting dusty sitting in storage due to no place to work on my car. I am not one who sends the car to be done, I do it myself. Even if I had the money to do it, With few exceptions. One other thing is location. Living in the Rockies there are very few auto related businesses that even know the difference between a SBC and a SBB. I have three drag strips with in 200 miles. But time, $$$$, and family has kept me from running.
I am planning on driving the wagon to Buick race day/BPG nationals next year. Hoping to meet with friends I have met here, plus have fun with the wagon. Depending on how it goes even run it down the track.

With the above being said. I would like to build the SBB in my wagon to the highest horsepower I can get while keeping it reliable and drivable. Which may mean power adder. most likely turbo. I will be asking for help and ideas.

I want to go to the track tomorrow, (Thompson) but the weather doesn't look like its going to be decent, rain and wind most of the day:mad:
Im anxious to see how it runs shifting a 6 grand with the new valve springs, but it looks like I gotta wait another 2 weeks.

Tim, here I what I suggest for you. Get a extra SRT of heads that you can port add big valves to as you can afford. Then shave heads .050 . when those are ready get gaskets and throw them on . should be a weekend project. One day if you work at it. Could even get a cam change in over a weekend. TA 212 would be decent. Check craigs list and swap meets for a 2500-2800 convertor. Most 2800 convertors are rated for big block so you will see something around 2400. At 2400 it will work well for street , and compliment ported big valve heads or stock heads and stock cam. Then tune. Timing and carb jet/ rod&hanger combo. Vacuum pulloff for secondary. Springs/shocks/swaybars/rear control arm upgrades can be done easily too. These will get you going and can compliment a turbo if you chose that later. Rear end gears and posi would take some work. But also will add to performance . check eBay for used parts, gears, posi that you might want. I didn't mention headers since you might want turbo setup

Andy, Thanks for the thoughts. I have been thinking of doing just that, getting a set of heads and working them as I can afford it. Then throwing them on one weekend. I am always perusing ebay for parts and pieces. I do have headers and 2 1/2 in header back duals. I do have a place to have rear end work done. But don't know how well the Buick would be surrounded by jeeps. ( the shop is a 4x4 suspension manufacturer specializing in Jeep, TnT Customs)

Just call TA and make a deposit on some of the new heads.... The new heads will not cost too much more than doing the iron heads properly.....

That might be an idea. T/A does layaway.:):) Has an idea on cost been released yet?

Would the new Single plane intake be good for the street or should I use the Stage 1?
Would this hughes converter be good for the wagon? http://wyoming.craigslist.org/pts/4704160500.html

Yes that converter looks fine for a mild cam engine.

I have a feeling that the dual plane intake will work well with the new heads, especially for street use.... The improved head flow will remove the bottle neck in the engine....

Using a single plane intake will give up low rpm torque and gain big power up over 5000-7500 rpm....

I will run the single plane intake on a street/strip engine in the skylark, turbos, matched with a custom roller cam, girdled block, 9:1, 3200 stall, and lockup converter, 3.42 gears.

Went to the GS nationals, heard there was an SP3 intake (350 single plane) there on display at the TA trailer.
