matt, just finish your car. i swear you are gonna be 70 years old with a pile of parts that used to resemble a buick LOL

Hey now yours took an awful long time too... anything thats worth it will take time and be done right... this S10 is just a budget build to have a fun toy for now. Nothing too expensive or time consuming. And I'll be back on the car by july at the latest once this truck is done.

What year of S-10. I believe the 84 corvette Aluminum is an easy bolt in for the 82-93 body style. If it is newer use the 4.3 liter aluminum radiator w/ towing package. it will be fine.

sounds like a plan... I called up my friend at the junkyard and he says almost everything I need is there, including some clean S10 body panels. This may just happen by the time the weather breaks... or at least I hope so anyway. The rolling frame and cab should be here in a few weeks tops, then I'll be trying out the motor/trans fitments and trying to find a clean bed up here in the rust belt... wish me luck . I have clean doors, fenders, and a hood, along with side and rear glass... not to mention a ton of other S10 crap among my piles of parts.

I have done the v-6 to v-8 sbb swaps but none in an s-10. We are almost done with a sbc swap in a 93 s-10. It was not very hard. We will end up making headers to fit it since the swap headers that came with the kit suck. What alot of guys are building here are headers that come over the frame rail and follow the frame back on the outside. As far as the 8.5 we have several s-10 that are runing in the mid to low 10's in the quarter and live. I would recomend a set of the cal tracks for the springs. They work very well.

thanks for the advice man, what parts are you using in the 8.5" rears? stock stuff? I could believe it because of the weight of those little trucks.

oh and I already decided on fenderwell headers to run outside the frame since that would be the easiest... thanks for confirming my idea is good haha :Dou:

I stripped my car down last winter... before that it only sat for like a year and a half... I had it registered the first summer I owned it, then parked it to work on it, after that I just used to start it up and run up and down the road illegally but carefully... but where I lived, 5 miles from even a gas station, where you can't see your neighbors houses, that was no big deal

so there... your car was apart longer than mine has been :bla:

I know, mine will be apart for quite a while yet, but oh well, it'll be worth it... and with this S10 I'll have a buick-powered toy in the meantime, built with stuff I already have or have access to for dirt cheap. I have been wanting an S10 pickup since I sold my old one (mistake, I should have fixed it) and I would have bought one anyway, so why not make it a SBB powered hot rod?! :Brow:

and don't even start on having too many cars/projects :bla:

My Skylark has never been apart, but then again it's always been rusty and brown.

very nice joe! my tires are about the same size as well and the stance is very familiar but im running 14'' in the front so its a bit taller tire. i have a set of 15's to put on just gotta wait to get tires

and if you havent already noticed the paint on the front clip on my car is garbage but its getting some paint here in acouple of weeks. right on time for my buddies car show at his shop

Paint is a nice thing. I'm not going to be painting my Skylark anytime soon. After I get my motor together for it, I'm going to be spending my time on my GS. It's been a long time since I've driven it and I miss it. Sure it only has a 350 and it's slow, but it's a damn nice car. I need to replace the frame. The original owner parked in a garage with a dirt floor from 77 till the guy I got it from bought it in 96. I got it in 97 and noticed the frame was junk shortly after. I drove it sparingly (hence the 54,000 miles). I've had a replacement frame for a few years now. The new frame is actually from a 69 Stage 1 4 speed car so that'll make even nicer...that's how that works...right???

Anyway, I run 225/70r15 on the front of my Skylark. They're tall tires. About 27.5 inches. I live in the county and bumpy dirt and hardtop roads are common and my headers are expensive. They're already beat to hell. So tall tire were in order. Here's a pic of one. This pic was taken at the 08 nationals. It was rather muddy. Randy Gardner took the pic.

ive got ya beat! in the intrest of getting the stupid thing back on the road i said "to hell" with caring about what it looks like anyhow. as long as its running and driving the looks can take a backseat for now. its my daily driver and i love every second

You need to get some bullet hole stickers. They cover up dents like no other.

I know the main thing we ran into on V-8 swaps into S-trucks was the steering column. Get one out of a truck that had a 4.3 V6 in it. They are offset to clear the motor/exhaust manifold.

thank you, that helps a lot. this truck didn't come with a steering comlumn but theres a ton of 4.3L 4x4 blazers in the junkyard I can get one from.

hmmm.... once I get around to trying this out, I wonder how the oil pan clearance will be... I'd like to try to get away with a stock oil pan, even if I have to modify it....
