Well, a guy drove all night from Massachusetts, made an offer and let's just say he headed back to MA without the car so it will be relisted. I got a call this morning that its still for sale so went to take a look. The owner is a super nice guy, a Mopar guy. I would have bought it in a minute but it's borderline almost not salvageable. He was worried about theft so removed the cowl tag but the cowl is also shot. I don't want to ruin the guys sale but this car needs new rear inner wheel housing, quarters, fenders (Driver dented and normal bottom rust), passenger needs a patch panel. Needs core support, passenger inner fender, doors are very flaky on bottom, needs trunk, needs floors. I didn't crawl under the car as I was disappointed on the cowl but he said no holes but by looking at the cross member there is some really thick flaky rust so assume the frame is the same. has correct speedo, pedals, column. Motor doesn't look bad at all, still see some cross/hatching in cylinders but a few cylinders are starting to get some surface rust but couldn't see the bottom end of the motor. Appears to be numbers matching motor and trans. You will need a donor shell and/or frame and lot of metal work. The parts that are there like the z bar and soo flaky, the control arms will need to be cut off....You guys know better than me that's its a rare car but I don't have that much skill for the level this needs... oh and it looks like there was a fire under the hood at some point as all the paint under the hood is flaking like it got too hot....anyway, he wouldn't take my offer...... he said he was going to post pics of the cowl in the auction so folks can see the extent of what is needed.

Looks like the Buffalo winters Took it's toll, needs an Arizona donor body and frame to bring it back to life. Definitely worth saving. I no were there's a rust free 70 Skylark in Warminster PA. I used to own It. Send a PM for Information.

It's salvageable but man that's a shame, I would venture to say it's one of one, lot of original metal would end up getting scrapped

I think ours just notched up towards concours level Jason

    Very sad to see

Wow! A numbers matching drive line is awesome. However, assuming the frame is in similar condition to the body, that’s about all you are buying. Yeah, the hood and seats too. I’m not a scared of many projects(cause I’m dumb like that) but I’m not sure I’m brave enough for that.

Someone throw it together and drive it as is. Me and Fritz need more members for our elite club.

Yeah, i agree. You're buying the numbers matching VIN, engine and trans. Lets say someone bought it and gave it your average restoration (not concurs)... used a 70 Skylark body.... what is it worth? I see 70 Stage 1 4 speed on ebay for $36,000. I want it bad, its only 20 minutes away but not sure i have the skills do do a good enough job on the metal work. If i knew it could be a $75,000 car i might change my mind...

Too far gone. Sad but just a Parts car now. I had a rare 4speed car in about same condition. Entire drive train now in a suncoupe . other than the gs parts that weren't toasted the rest went to the recycler. Unfortunately can't save them all. Rust never sleeps and eventually will claim them all.

It has no title either, correct? They are becoming a real challenge to get. I have a rust free cowl, but it looks like the rust repair won’t end there. I’m looking at it as a parts car.
    How nice is the hood?

The hood is rusty and pitted. Would work for a driver. Funny i was just thinking the same thing in regards to the title. In NY for 72 and earlier (i think) they do not have titles but have a transferable registration. He acquired the car through buying a house foreclosure and the car was in the garage. This means the actual owner may still claim it or have an issue if you decide to regsiter it..... its a gamble.

Typical car condition for living in Buffalo for that long. I junked two ('68 & '71)that had similar rust issues, the bodies basically fell off, frames shot.
This is nothing but a parts car.

BUT (a BIG butt heh heh) just imagine,as the rust continues its onslaught that means every day it will become faster than the previous day!
