Carl we are trying not to start our cars all at once in order to prevent being the epicenter of the great American tsunami or rotating the world on it axis. This has caused rain in the past couple years....

Jeff, thank you so much for making the drive and the event. It was really nice to meet you and your friends. We all had a great time and I hope you did too. Your ride looked fantastic sitting still and going down the track. I will have pictures from the event ready in the near future.

However, I can't help but to be a little disappointed. Jeff was the only V8 racer in attendance. The “Brand X Bash” event that originated from this forum also had a GTO, a Cadillac STS-V and two Mustangs racing with our team. In other words, the brand X cars racing with us outnumbered the V8 Buicks. We know why Phil could obviously not be there; but, what happened to everyone else?

In fact, Jeff was the only attendant from Houston. No one else from Austin, San Antonio, Houston or the entire OK Buick club was there. The other 16 participants were all from the DFW area.

I would suspect that the weather had something to do with attendance. :Do No:
It was rainy and cold in Dallas yesterday morning/afternoon.

    ... and a '10 G8, a '11 Camaro SS, and my '08 Sky. I think I counted 16 cars total.

    Let's see The Buicks
    Rob D. 87GN
    Tim T. 87GN
    Geoff N. 98GS
    Steve A. 87GN
    Stan D. 87 D84
    Mike M. 87GN
    Mike D. 87GN
    Jeff 70GS
    Duke 87Turbo T

    The others

    Myself 08Sky
    Rick K. 05STS-V
    Mike 06GTO
    Mike F. '10G8
    Gary M. 11Camaro SS
    Levi T. 07Mustang
    ???? Mustang

    That's 16 cars. I think I have them all?

I suspected that was a major factor as well. However, I can also remember more than one event being held in Temple when a large part of the DFW & some of the OK group drove all the way down there to watch it rain or delayed until late in the evening. I think many of us will forever remember what happened in Rusk. :af: But, that is another story. The local forecasts I viewed had ruled out rain until after Sunday. Fortunately, it was just a little chilly at the race track. The only time the races were delayed were for breakage and cleanups.

On the other hand, it was actually quite humorous to hear the announcer say "Well here have a Mustang (insert other x cars here) running for the Buick club?". When Rick was on the line with his STS-V the announcer referred to it as a K-K-K-K-Kadillac".

Maybe next time we will have better weather conditions to work with. None the less, we had a great time. Many of the racers in attendance did very well and made it tougher on the other racers. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Warning before you read! No sugar coating here.

The weather was great! Just perfect especially for turbo cars, what would you rather have 100 degree heat? Then it would be to hot to race.:ball: Com'on... I don't buy it.

I don't know what happened to everyone else but it damn sure wasn't the weather.

David and I had a blast !! ....It was nice to meet everyone!
We too were disappointed in the turnout..:Do No:
I watched the weather report closely, no rain in the forecast...
Actually the cool air was a blessing, the cars ran well !!

If anyone wants to set another 2011 Buick Bash II date..... lets do it..
David and i will be there... It would sure be nice to see 50 Buicks like we have in years past.

Jeff and I had a great time. The 50 deg weather cought us by surprise. I ran over to wally world to fetch something warmer, the tie shirt wasn't cutt'n it. We only raced one car. We had one trailer plus it's hard to consentrate on two. So I played pit crew. Last week Jeff played pit crew with the Black car. Now if we could just cut a light!

On the way up to Dallas I joked "Man! If no one shows up we can call Emerson. He'll say, Alright be right there".

The trip only took 3 hours and we had the car unloaded and everything put up by 7:30. Great track, had the lanes open on time and ran the rounds off quickly. My cousin lives Kaufman so I like this track or the new Dallas dragstrip.

We really had a good time guys. I think we may hit the next one as well. We'll bring the black car next time.:3gears:

You should not feel any remorse for any reason. We know you absolutely had to take care of some business. Everyone who was there seemed to have a great time. I took as many pictures of the event as possible. I have posted some of the good ones here:
