    Re: Temple?

Would everyone possibly consider having it at the Texas Motorplex on March 27th or September 11th in conjunction with the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge? Unfortunately, unlike last time they will not be at Temple this year. However, I think that the facilities, lodging and track preparation would be to everyone's satisfaction. Not to mention, it might encourage participation from those in the surrounding states that might want to get involved. Would that also help you with the coordination of the event Phil?

I think everyone had a really good time participating for "Team K" (Buick Club team letter) last time. Not to mention it really racked up a lot of points for the cause. For those who have not experienced racing in one of these events, there are several classes to choose from. With the large variety of vehicles in attendance, it would surely be a "Brand X Bash" in all its spirit. The ability to approach potential sponsors with the knowledge that the t-shirts would be in front of much larger crowd might help as well. That is, if that is what you would want to do in keeping with the previous events. I think a bunch of t-shirts running around with the "Brand X Bash" event title would make for some fun intimidation as well.

Available bracket classes within the TMCCC 1/4 mile events are as follows:

    Super Pro Muscle - 10.99 & quicker
    Pro Muscle - 11.00-11.99
    King Muscle - 12.00-12.99
    Super Muscle - 13.00-13.99
    Street Muscle - 14.00-15.49
    Stock Muscle - 15.50 & slower
    Electronics all E.T.

With all that being said, I am just throwing ideas out there and would be interested in attending either way. :TU:

:beers2: I am ok with that idea more heads up action. I was not intending to go all out like in the past I figured it was a great way to get all the group together and do what we do best BBQ, Shoot the breeze and race! I am not apposed to racing up there. If we would like to do shirts we can do a little fund raising to get shirts. Security measures are a must, I would hate to have someones car displaced.:TU:

    Re: Temple?

    Guys,
I think the idea of having the event at the Texas Motorplex might be a good one as far as track conditions and facility. The location might be beneficial for a great turnout as well.

Each year, it seems Temple has been a little less accomodating toward us.

But, I feel the last event we had with the Texas Muscle Car Challenge Club, at Temple, limited us on the amount of runs we had, and who we wanted to run against......compared to the past.

Once the racing starts its race only mode....everyone else can pack up and go home !! The 2 time trial rule kinda killed the fun for the Buick event we used to have in the past.

    Just some opinions and obsevations.
Maybe we meet on another date??

    Re: Temple?

There are other dates available if the group does not mind racing on an 1/8 mile track. I don't mind it either way. With that being said, the possible deal breaker that I previously overlooked is that all these events occur on a Sunday with the exception of one.

March 13th: Texas Raceway - Kennedale, Texas
March 27th: Texas Motorplex - Ennis, Texas
April 3rd: Northstar Dragway - Denton, Texas
April 17th: Northstar Dragway - Denton, Texas
April 30th: Texas Raceway - Kennedale, Texas (Tentative Saturday Event)
June 5th: Ardmore Dragway - Ardmore, Oklahoma June 5
September 11th: Texas Motorplex - Ennis, Texas
October 16th: Northstar Dragway - Denton, Texas (Conflicts with Buick vs Ford in Noble, OK)
October 30th: Texas Raceway - Kennedale, Texas

    Suggestion #2:

The Lone Star Performance Buick Club has once again secured its own bracket class every 2nd Saturday evening at Redline Raceway in Caddo Mills, Texas (Just east of Dallas) begining in April. We are currently scheduled to be racing the same night as their Outlaw Show. Therefore track conditions are expected to be at a premium.

Basically, each month that we are there, our racers chip $10.00 into a pot to be split at the end of the event. Our racers draw at random for spots on a standard NHRA ladder to help make things run smoothly.

This could effectively allow for us to have our own little mini nationals event. The drawback once again for some would be the lack of a desire to run an 8th mile track. On the flip side, your gate entry also entitles you to run TNT or grudge race when not competing in our class.

Again, I am just throwing some more ideas out there for everyone.....

    Re: Temple?

Carl, saturday is a must. With people having to travel to make the event I believe we would be limiting the number of people able to make the event. I really would like to keep the event in Texas as the oklahoma crew has the noble event every year. It would be good to do something on our own turf.

I can't wait to do something this year! I've about wiped out all the brand X'ers around here. Need some new pickens!

I loved Brand X bash format we had. Hanging out with time trials all day and a little bracket racing in the evening with some buick only action. Never heard of this K team, maybe the A team:beers2:

    Re: Temple?

David I remmember the outline from the K team. This would be a true X bash because it is designed to race against other makes. I now have to figure out how to get my car there as I do not have a truck or a trailor.:Dou: I look forward to seeing you all, it has been a while.

Fyi, I have really been thinking about putting together my 70 gs 455 4spd. I may see if any of my friends have any parts floating arounf to donate to the cause I need everything...:Dou:

    Re: Temple?

Checking the Saturday schedule for the Motorplex, there is not much there. There are a few events. There regular Bracket series and a Lucas Oil event?

Maybe the new Dallas Raceway? They have had some timing issues but I heard they have that fixed? They have a lot of events on Saturdays with grudge & TnT racing. www.dallasraceway.com

Is Abilene too far for you guys? They run on Saturdays, and have a really first class 1/8th mile track. We call it our home track, and it is 200 miles from us.

    Re: Temple?

I miss the 1/4 mile. Sure is hard to set up a car for both. Tyler's 70 is really an 1/8th mile car now.

    Re: Temple?

To dallas it will be about a 3 hour drive from abeline. The Austin guys will be about the same. 4 hours for Houston guys. I do not think it is bad. As far as the Kennedale saturday event what do you guys think. would this interfere with any of your functions.

April 30th: Texas Raceway - Kennedale, Texas (Tentative Saturday Event)

    Re: Temple?

Perhaps we do a couple of dates this year. The more I look at it the better Texas Motorplex on March 27th looks. Ennis is still fairly central driving distance.

Last years format was fine, it's just they took thier sweet ass time opening the staging lanes then tell everyone its a two time trial day. Texas Motorplex usually gets the gates open on time and only an hour late with the lanes.

Then we have the rain issue with March events. They are a 50/50 probability. Ennis gets a few more dry days this time of year.

If you guys don't mind driving on Sunday evening, this date might be our best shot. We may be able to stack several cars in a perticular class like pro-muscle or super pro. We could bring Leaver for Pro or the Pro street for SuperPro. I doubt we'll be bringing both cars.
