I am in the process of going to rebuild the drums on my 72 skylark. Yes, I am aware that doing a disc conversion is the better way to do, and I will likely do that down the road, but I do not intend to do that at this time. I am adding the brake self adjustment to them. I rebuilt the rear with new wheel cylinders, springs, and added the adjustment to them.

I was looking at the front and plan to do the wheel cylinders and everything as well, but I wanted to test fit the brake adjuster kit to get a picture, as it did not look right.

See the picture and can someone tell me if there is a certain routing for the springs, or if I do not have the correct kit for the fr0nt?

It's always best to take apart one side at a time to see how the original springs and parts go while you are working on one.
I haven't done front drums in years but other than the adjusting bendix star setup I'm sure there's no self adjuster like the rear if thats what your asking?
You set the initial drum to shoe feel by putting the drum on and then down the road there should be a oblong hole in the back plate where you use a adjuster tool to move the star adjuster as you seem fit if you think the car pulls to one side or another while braking.

You should also test fit the springs with both shoes and all the parts as the springs work of each other. You will see when every part is in that spring you pictured all that slack will be gone and getting that spring over the post up top will need a brake tool that guides it over it.
You can do it with a screw driver or pliers but for $5 the toll makes it alot easier.
If you did the back brakes then you know:)

Here is a photo of one of the front brake assemblies on my 69. Your car is a few years newer but I can't imagine that they changed too much. 20201214_152306.jpg

Thank you. I cannot find the link that is connected to the adjuster and up to the top arm on the left side. Is there anyone that has done a disc brake conversion that may have this link for me?
