Is anyone running a Hurst Comp plus shifter on their BorgT10 ? I have a 66 GS Borg with no rods. I have a factory shifter as well as a Hurst comp plus . My dilemma seems to be figuring out what rods I will need. Are the rods the same as a Muncie? The official Hurst/Holley site only shows rods for the Super Street Shifter.
I had the same shifter and rods on a T-10 and M 20. I think I had to change one of the transmission levers and do some adjusting. That was 50 years ago.
There was an old Car Craft article on the 66 GS vert that Sean is now restoring. They put a comp plus shifter in it, used one listed for a 63 Chev fullsize. We did post about it, may have been 15+ years ago. Pretty sure the rods for that kit were identical to the ones on my 66 GS with that shifter. I'll post back if I can find the info. Or call Hurst/Holly tech support and see if they can find the numbers for you. Here's the T-10 kit. I'll have to check to see if it's what I have.: https://www.holley.com/products/dri...ories/shifter_installation_kits/parts/3734734
I had a Hurst Competition Plus for a 67 Gran Sport (Muncie) that came with a project car. These have been out of production for well over 20 years and are hard to find. I had it adapted to the T-10 trans for a 66 GS when the trans was rebuilt. He said it only required changing the reverse rod. Cheryl
Last year I purchased a new Hurst shifter for my T-10 from Dennis Maroudas. He is an ace transmission source.
There's a board member, 'Crash' that had shifters avail a few years ago. https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/nib-hurst-shifter-for-1965-66-a-body.228702/ Here's a pic of the install instruction sheet from his thread. Note the pn's for the shifter rods: first-second: 2138 third-fourth: 2139 reverse: 3404 If the 63 chev kit uses the same rods, you should be good to go.
I have one of the Hurst shifters I got from Crash a few years ago, so much better than the stock factory shifter.
