i've uploaded bob's 92 smokeshow appearance to Streetfire. Enjoy! Click here to see Video "Anyhow, this is my car, back in 1992. I won our college smokeshow contest! I have never seen another burnout even come close to this one, totally in a league of its own. (Have you?) The rugby game on the field next door had to pause play, traffic on the nearby street had to stop, and the police came and shut down the event forever..." hey johnno, it sounds to me like he's calling you out!
Hmm... Me thinks Johnno, has some competition, and I think that show was in the North Country of NY, where, some other burnouts occured with a '68 GS 350, 4 speed, about 13 yrs prior, but I have no pictures or any proof, but it did happen, at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY!!!!
I hope the EPA has a statute of limitations! That guy should have been arrested. Oh wait, maybe not. I still have to chuckle when I see that video- the way the smoke goes shooting out onto the rugby field behind the car, as if there was a huge fan blowing the smoke all over the place. Then when the car finally reappears, it looks so tiny compared to all that smoke. The car started up and drove away just fine after all that, I was honestly expecting that I'd overheated the motor or something. Gotta love the Buick motors. Roberta, I am pretty sure I could still hear the echo 13 years later as I was getting ready. Probably the same place (Walker arena parking lot). -Bob C.
Lots of shots from Quaker City and Milan Dragway: http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=6D804940-BA36-4A06-A2EC-2B165B6CCDB0&p=0
maybe somebody should try commenting on it? we've got a perfect 5 star rating and i don't see it in the burnout sections? either that or we don't have the minimum votes, i dunno.
Gotta love a good burnout! In high school i had a V8 Vega, pretty stout. I bought 2 new spare 'GT' wheels from the local boneyard and put them on. I put the other tires in the hatch along with a floor jack, and went to the student parking lot and roasted them. I mean until both tires blew, the smoke actually stopped the line of busses coming into the school, and that was way across the ball fields! After the tires popped, I got out, threw the keys to my buddy and walked to class. ( This was pre-arranged, I didn't want to hang around! ) He changed the tires and brought my keys to class! There was a herd of teachers and students running to see what was burning, I never did get into any trouble!
it was parted out and many of the parts including the engine are still in use: https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?t...-blathering-happy-ending.294899/#post-2440524
