It's kind of at a stand still at the moment as I need to pull the engine that's currently in the Riv to harvest parts to keep the build going. I'm going to be pulling it in the next week or two I hope.

Ahhh cool. That must be when you get to set up a new oil pump. Roller rockers? Push rod length. Rebuild the rochester quadjet with clifs recomondations and all that good stuff!

Yesssir:). I need the timing cover, oil pump, water pump, carb, distributor, headers, pullies and a few other small miscellaneous parts off the other engine in order to continue. I will probably send my carb back to Ken@everyday performance to be recalibrated to my new build since he's the one that did this carb for me initially.

Well I had a good last run yesterday on a beautiful October Thanksgiving day (accept for getting nailed doing 82km in a 50km zone, $283 fine and 4 points against my license:mad::() but now it's time to start the removal process of the old engine to harvest some parts. It's a bitter sweet feeling but I'll get over it real fast:D:p. Surgical tarp is down to protect the driveway:). 20211012_182503.jpg

Thanks! Yeh it's pretty nice. There is another road just at the top of the burm that runs parallel with my road in front of my house but it's not too bad. Unfortunately All that bushland across from me is sold to a developer and will be houses in the next 5 years:(.

    That SUCKS!
Hopefully you dont end up with neighbors that "Dont approve" of your hobbies.
Or, when they're showing the home's rev your Buick up with open headers, do some hole shots in the street:p:p:p:p

When they start chopping the trees down the house goes up for sale and we're outta there.

That's a good idea, the sacrificial tarp. I've always just let them puke on the driveway, sopped it up with cat litter, then hose the remnants off into the grass!

I did notice that my parents driveway started looking much nicer shortly after me and my brothers moved out (30+ years ago)...

Well today was a good day! It's hard to tell from the pics but I made some good progress after work today. I got all the accessories off, rad out, all the lines and wiring disconnected and a few beers drank:). All I have left is pull the hood, disconnect the exhaust and tranny from the engine, unbolt the motor mounts and she's ready come out:cool:

You need to carry that color to heads and valve covers...

As much of a shame painting the new Aluminum Eddy heads is, I do agree and they will be painted the same as the block. Like others have mentioned before by the time you get the engine in the bay and all the accessories and brackets on you don't really see much of the block. I've been tossing the idea around of doing the valve covers too. I will be reusing my Poston covers that are currently on it now (above pics). What will stay "Aluminum" is the timing cover/waterpump, intake and possibly the pwr str and lwr alt bracket. If I find a place up here that does vibratory polishing/treating (like what JW does) I'll have that done, if not then they'll get painted in "Aluminum" colour. The shorty headers will be chrome/silver ceramic coated, all billet/polished aluminum parts like rad, pullies and water neck will go back on along with the chrome alt and chrome upper tensioner alt bracket. The "touchy" question or subject is should I repaint my SWAC black cherry to match?? It's an original top only, homemade custom dropbase and repro nut so it's not like I would be messing with a complete original set:D.
