Appreciate your comments and I will contact Bill directly and see if I can get a response. I have several cars in different stages of resoration and it seems I can't finish any of them. The 67 is close to completion altho I've been saying that for 6 months.
I do not intend to post any other comments in regard to this situation and hopefully it will be resolved.

About the first post on this thread that makes sense.

Guy complains about a transaction, guy is comparatively new to the board vs. the guy he is complaining about, entire board turns on newer guy.

Everyone is ready to take sides when all the information isn't out. I'm not knocking WildBill and taking sides with the other guy, in fact WildBill is about the only one who says that the entire PM exchange needs posted.

I think we need to mellow out a bit on the knee jerk reaction. Only WildBill and Rod know the whole story. This isn't exactly like the last $100 thread that we went through where ALL the facts were laid out complete with posts outlining the process from the offender.

That being said, I wouldn't have any hesitation buying from WildBill. From his last post it sounds like he was more than willing to refund the purchase with a return, he just wasn't going to send the guy $100 and call it good.

I've spent more time than I want on this and again don't care to post again but since some want to see the emails exchanged I am posting below.
I couldn't return console as Bill requested as he would not be able to make claim as against FedEx once I returned it. I was aware of this from my experience of buying part/supplies for years on internet. Once kept gallon of paint which had opened in shipment in my office for 3 weeks waiting for FedEx to adjust with shipper.
I am not assailing Bill's character as this is my first dealing with him. But if another on this board had an experience such as this I would like to be made aware so that I could make an informed decision about whether to go thru with transaction. I am not suggesting that anyone not do business with Bill but if it goes south this is simply an example of what may happen.
I'm disappointed Bill doesn't want to give me the name of the guy interested in tach and not sure why he wouldn't.
This will be my last post on subject and wouldnn't have posted but for the post by Bill and the response.
I think I've posted the entire exchange between Bill and myself as it relates to this transaction and now you can indeed judge for yourself. I didn't post intially because I thought this would be handled and no need to burden board with additional posting.
The first message is the last from me to Bill. It was sent 8/25 early morning. After this exchange the next I heard from Bill was the message at the beginning of this post. Following is the email exchange:

I will not be able to get boxed up for several days. If you would give me a $100 credit for broken plastic I would call it even and if you want plastic base sent back I could do so. By the time we mess with all the shipping expense and time it will be more than that involved.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

To answer your questions-I received the package Mon or Tuesday of last week. Had to bring pickup as my car too small for box. Took it home on Friday. Opened it on Saturdaytook it out of box on Sunday and discovered the damage. Also went back to photos and with zoom could never identify that the console not with original grain in plastic. No close-ups of plastic base and dont believe the side with crack is shown.
I did contact you as soon as I saw damage. The box I have retained as well as packing materials except for paper which console was packed in. My experience with Fed Ex is that they will want to inspect packing and product for claim. If I ship it back to you I do not think claim can be made. It will be several days before I could get it packed and returned.
Let me know about claim process and how you want to proceed.

Received consoleunfortunately the plastic base has about 10 inch crack/separation. I could see where repair attempted and cracked in same spot. Also the base is not original and not sure what was done. The finish on what I received was smooth whereas original had a pattern in plastic. Perhaps when repair made they sanded/somehow they made smooth. The base is not salvageable. The pot metal was pretty much as you described. Would like an adjustment on amount paid and would be happy to return plastic base or take photos. Let me know.

Bill offered to refund all your $$$,why didnt you ship it back? :Do No:

Those consoles are rare & i understand why Bill would rather have it back, even with the damage, than have fed-ex pay him & toss the part away.
