Lee I won't be the last to say this...but thanks. It is this type of spirit that makes this forum great. I hope I can do the same when this car is finished. The good question is whether it will ever be finished!

You're a fine fella for doing what you've done to help this guy. I'll remember this guys name. We need the IP addy posted in case he changes his name. No one in that house gets any of our good Buick stuff for free! From now on he gets charged double the going market rate on parts plus packaging and handling.

It makes you wonder how some people were brought up.

I have sent out dozens of parts free over the past 25 years. Most of the folks were thankful, and did appreciate them.

However, there have been a few that never thanked me at all.

Bad parenting means bad manners and social skills.

Seems like a lot of that around these days.

DeeveeEight, I would like to thank you for being a stand up guy and willing to help anyone by giving away parts for the cost of shipping.
The pay it foward part of this board is what makes this Buick thing we all share so cool. Sad to read it went down like this.
Given the chance, I would gladly buy you a beer.:TU:

People always get what they have coming, good and bad, in this life or the next.

Wow! I sold him two really decent fenders, wheelwells, repairable rad support, overflow tank, hood, hood lip molding, and lighted rear veiw mirror. All for 450.00. I think he saved enough on that deal to pay you your $9.00. I felt bad that people were killing him on his car, and I remember being that age with unrealistic dreams. I was actually getting ready to send him the wiper arms, dipstick and other little pieces that were coming off my parts car, which I had no use for. Aint happening now! I guess we both learned a lesson here. The shame of it is that I could have used those parts, and would have gladly paid that shipping plus a little something extra so you could have a couple of beers for your generosity. Something tells me that's going to be the most expensive $9.00 he never spent!

Sounds like someone needs to man up and pay up.

It was nice to see a young kid get gunho about an old car - no matter how much he underestimated what this car will take to make it right.

Its a shame this happened - no one is a winner here

But if he is what he is - I guess we are better off without............

I would hope this get resolved

    You can't resolve his character.
He could pay up, but that would be due to pressure and not because he was a good person who was grateful.

What a shame how much of a frenzy there is over one side of the story. I have bought lots of different parts from different people and never once was the item shipped before payment. I have the right to object to the price be it $10, $100 or a penny over what I want to pay. This was not a need to have part and with no job I don't waste my money on stupid purchases. I would gladly ship this back except for the point that it would be $11 in shipping just to give a hot head who can't talk things out like a man his part back. He couldn't discuss he just curses me out. Because that resolves everything right? I am sure there is a resolution that will work for everyone if Lee had the patience to discuss it. From day one he bashes me on something that has no effect on him, then I make the mistake of doing business with the guy. If you want to keep talking crap and saying how hard this hobby is because of the horrible teen who didn't just spend another $10 because money is so cheap as long as it someone elses then fine, but I'll stand my ground and be here waiting to talk it out like men to find a proper solution

You are correct. If you thought that $21 was too much then you could have refused the package when it arrived. The package would then have been returned to the sender. You accepting the package means, at least to me, that you accepted the shipping cost.

If you are willing to send the parts back I will cover the shipping cost of $21 dollars. The group of people on this site are extremely helpful and I don't want people to stop being helpful because of issues like this.

If I knew the price and the date when the package arrived I would have. I was on vacation when it showed up.

I would like to see what Lee says before any action is taken. I have a nice new box ready to go.

I don't mean any offense by this but as helpful as this forum is its not impossible to find parts and tips without it. I would rather just fix my car than talk about it. This whole ordeal really has put a damper on this forum for me, it seems everyone is willing to shun others before a decision is even made. I will probably just stick to junkyard hunting and word of mouth for parts.

This whole thing sounds unfortunte but what Lee did was awesome and for what was received I would have loved it for $21. I understand how it is when not working. But I have a resolution. I have manual drum brakes and was going to convert to disc at some point. I will send you the $12 for shipping and send Lee his $21 if you ship them to me. I will make mine power drum for now.

my last post in this mess

    in this thread http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=208472

you ask for the free parts

in post 4 and i quote

I'm getting 10.73 for shipping to 12589 through usps but I'm not positive on dimensions or weight.

PM me your name and address and I will ship them out UPS - you can send me the actual shipping costs."

    Lee

lee wanted you to pm him your address and i you did
he stated send the info and i will (read it up there)
SHIP THEM OUT UPS(so you knew they were comming
if you did not want to pay "actual shipping" as stated in the post
you would not have PM'ed you address(correct)
your quote for shipping in yoyr own words were "BUT I'M NOT POSITIVE ON DIMENSIONS OR WEIGHT" so how can you get a real quote on shipping without that information.....

what is the definition of ............integrity.........
well i dont know the correct one but my version goes something like this

its easy to do the right thing when everyone else is watching but INTEGRITY is doing the right thing when no one is watching

    good luck on your car

Jacob... If your first post on this thread went something like this...

or something like that...That's acting like a man and working towards a solution.

You could have saved yourself somewhat.

Its unfortunate, but with your statement of "standing your ground" you've lost out on any future "free parts" from any other member.

  19. BUICKRAT

    BUICKRAT Got any treats?

Geez, some guy gives you parts you want, and you complain cause the shipping was more than you expected? When all you got was a phone quote?

Send his parts back if you don't want them, why should he take a hit when he sent you parts for free? Just another kid with a "the world owes me" attitude.

I'm glad this thread is here, now we know not to do you any favors. You can complain all you want, but you are still a shiester.

Lee is now out 10 bucks because he shipped you free parts. Sounds all wrong to me. Tell me, is 21 bucks too much for what you got? Answer honestly.

I do not have to defend myself or argue. The facts are here for all to see, that is why I copied them, so there would be no "He said She said".

Let the chips lay where they fall. We all make our own choices in this world and have to live with the consequences.

I personally would not be willing to give up the forum as easily as some here say they would. I think that this place is a GOLD MINE of information and goodwill. Try finding that at some junk yard.

Jacob - like I said to you in the NASTY pm that I sent you "Keep the FN parts, Keep your FN money, and I hope you FN kill yourself in that rust bucket".

What is done is done - you made your bed - NOW LAY IN IT.:spank:
