Can anybody say for certain whether or not the bell-housing part number 9785581 will bolt directly a '65 Skylark's 300 V8 (4.9L) engine?
That one has the dual humps to mount starter on left or right side, used on 68-up 350-400. It will bolt on to a 64-67 300 or 340. 64-67 300-340 only had the starter hump on the drivers side, pn 9774035. They're pretty much interchangable unless you need the starter on the right side (Pontiac, Olds?). Search that pn for more info.
