Because I'm always trying to learn, why would reserve capacity be an issuse on drag weeK?? With a proper charging system, all the battery does is start the car.. Right??

Research Drag week and see what Hot Rod requires your car to do. You must have the best of every system you can muster to make it thru the week. My hats off to anyone that try's this and even more to those that finish it

Technically I think this is still not legal. The rule says the battery must be anchored with 3/8" bolts though the frame. I don't think anchoring the battery box counts as anchoring the battery. But like I said previously I've never been teched on it.

Your best bet I think would be to place the battery between the roll bar and the quarter panel. Use some plate(s) on the underside of the floor that the battery bolts go through.

All batteries must be securely mounted and may not be relocated into the driver or passenger compartments. Rear firewall of .024-inch (.6 mm) steel or .032-inch (.8 mm) aluminum (including package tray) required when battery is re-located in trunk. In lieu of rear firewall, battery may be located in a sealed .024-inch (.6 mm) or .032-inch (.8 mm) aluminum, or FIA accepted poly box. If sealed box is used in lieu of rear firewall, box may not be used to secure battery, and must be vented outside of body.

As per the 2010 NHRA rule book, relocated batteries must be fastened to frame or frame structure with a minimum of two 3/8-inch-diameter bolts. Also, as stated by d7cook (previous post), bolting the battery box down is NOT the same as bolting the battery down. The battery itself must be bolted down. There are other requirements also and I can list them if you need them.

I was thing of mounting my battery like this.
Keeping the battery as far right as it can be.
Make an angle iron tray then bolt the tray to the frame,
    clamping the battery diagonally.

I think if it looks secure and strong it will pass tech.
    We'll see.

I'm thinking that is how I will have to do this, thanks for the visual. Only big concern is fitting the box and battery past the roll bar. I'll have to take the 3/8 all thread loose from the bottom if I need to remove the battery by mounting it here.
