Just checked my adj oil pressure reg kit from TA . A note says to install @ the preset factory setting. Mine has the white spring packed in the kit. I do have a couple factory springs (black) ,I start with one of them... after all it is adj !!

I just bought a TA adjustable spring kit for my 455.
There is a long black spring and a shorter red spring in the package.
Is the long black one best for street and strip use ?

So if I am to try and take care of my 430, ensuring it lives a long time, what should I do with my springs and pump setup on a budget?

Get the pressure regulator spring and be done with it?

A plain spring for me and the regulator turned nearly all the way in gives the same pressure as the white spring with the regulator about halfway in on the highway, which is where i drive most. 40-50psi at 70-80mph and 3500rpm. Overdrive is in my immediate future. I think the oil is being overworked. 10w30.

Running stock springs on all three cars. Advice not taken, logic is reasonably sound but not necessarily substantiated. Curious as to why this is necessary if there are so many cars still in running condition, especially weekend cruisers. If the advice was for race applications sure, maybe, but my GN doesn't seem to care either. The point should be, monitor your oil pressure, inspect the components and if excessive wear present when concerns are validated then recommend the adjustable option or new cover or any combination there of.
