72 Skylark coupe, I need to replace it. Pointers, suggestions, how to's?
Is there suppose to be a backing, or some sort of insulation between the headliner and roof?
    Where to buy new?
    Thanks

Just my opinion, you're better off leaving it to a professional. You can buy the material and find someone with experience to install it. I believe Legendary along with some others has the material and clips.

Yes, I have read that advice previously. Can it be that difficult to slide the rods into the sleeves, pop the rods into the appropriate holes, pull the vinyl tight and glue?

It is if you've never done it before. Getting the material stretched properly is an art form.

I just removed my rodent infested headliner, and now I see what you mean.....gotta find someone reasonable to install a new one!

I did my own once. It looked like it, too.

I've done a couple. It's not hard to do. You are correct- slide the rods and pull out the wrinkles. It can be frustrating but its not rocket science. The vinyl will shrink over time and flatten out any remaining wrinkles.

I did mine before the glass was in, which made it much easier.

I had a pro install the new headliner in m7 '72 GS and it came out great. Have a pro do the install. Well worth the money.
