Anyone added power windows and/or locks? 1969 GS 400 convertible.

I ordered replacement interior door panels, and am now considering adding power windows and/or locks. I probably would look for a switch that uses the original crank handle for up/down, and a fob for lock/unlock.

Anyone gone this route, any products to recommend or avoid?

    Thanks,

Remember, 69 door locks were vacuum, on the original cars.

ive been looking into centralized lock kits. you push down your drivers lock it locks the pass as well and vice versa. you just have to have 5 wire lock actuators and wire it up or you can buy kits. ive also looked into modding manual window regulators with motors to make them power its not that hard it seems as well.

I’ve done it on multiple 70-72 cars. Never done locks though. It is some work. Try to find someone selling an entire used setup. Car needs to really come apart to do it right. Dash out, doors off, kick panels out. Door panels off. Carpets out to access plastic wire protecter that runs from to back under drivers side seats. Then you need to figure how all wires run inside doors etc. they need to be done correctly or window will hit wires. Most of the wires on door actually runs on the outside of the panel like this on my GSX I did.

Also hope you are comfortable using a hole saw and drilling a giant hole in the body and a slightly smaller one in the door for the wires and rubber accordion boot. Once you start there is no going back. Body and door should have dimples where you need to drill. If you want to know true stress try drilling the body with a huge hole on a GSX or W30 convertible knowing there is no going back. I think it’s worth it though.

Thanks for the replies, there's a lot to consider! I was thinking that if I added power windows, there's some kits with an electric actuator for the locks that might work - not looking for factory perfect, but also trying to avoid making any irreversible changes.

Without drilling body and doors not sure how wiring is getting where it has to go.

Adding power windows to a 71 GS have a complete set-up, wire harness regulators, glass etc. I stripped out of another 71 40 yrs ago. Question where does the power window circuit get power from. My 40 yr old memory "remembers" it was a 12g wire that plugged into the fuse box. But is there a circuit breaker in the circuit and where should it located. Many Thanks

I am a little obsessed with a power window addition for my 67 GS. The work involved sounds like very little fun. To me, window rolling is actually better manual. I just love the idea of installing extra options.

There is a jumper that goes into plug on fuse box. There is also a relay behind but slightly above left kick panel. All my knowledge is 70-72. I’m guessing no difference. I believe the big orange wire here is power window. I can get more pictures as this car comes apart.

I believe these are the power window wires that go to fuse box. Orange and pink if you zoom in. They are a great addition to these cars.

Is there a way to do this complete installation without removing the front kick panels? I've removed those on another car once and their a bear to get in and out with all that gray goop bubble gum sealant.

Thank you a bunch those pics they rocked my memory, There's not an circuit breaker in the circuit ? Vague memory was when I stripped the car it didn't. I thought that was unusual at the time but maybe that's just the way GM did it back then. I can't locate the relay I stripped out will have to hunt for a relay I think In-line or OPGI has them. Thanks again pictures were worth a thousand words. I know what you mean about drilling those holes in the cowl and door, think my blood pressure is just coming down. Thks again

If you look at the fuse box picture you can see the circuit breaker in the upper left.
