Today, July 21, 2005 a very special event was held in Flint, Michigan at the GM Powertrain Plant. This celebration was to recognize the 100th anniversary of the grounding breaking for "The Buick"- the first factory. Actually, what was once farmland 100 years ago became a sprawling industrial complex that became the launching pad for General Motors. I was one of the fortunate members of the Buicktown chapter of the BCA to be invited to this excellent event. The current and retired employees of GM Powertrain Flint North and UAW Local 599 gathered to celebrate 100 years of manufacturing. There were historical displays and presentations, key speakers, the Norton Male Chorus and of course over 100 cars on display, including cars from the private GM collection. We were treated to lunch, free t-shirts and received a beautiful commemorative brushed aluminium license plate!!! Of course, I took pictures, so I shall post away!
Ok This batch includes a couple of shots of the new Lucerne-they had a cool cut away model on display
