How about this, motor work (heads, cam etc…) or a 4 speed swap and a quadrajet?

Get a qjet and a 1" spacer for the s devider.
Find a proven cam here in the parts section or get a custom grind from scotty brown.
    And longtube HEADERS.
For the heads . Mill them and install bigger TA valves as a minimum , and see if you want to afford the porting

Ps: there is always power adders for your goal ;)

LS's especially the 5.3 make no low end torque.
The Buick 350 will twist that 5.3 up like a foil gum wrapper:p

oil gallies need to be drilled out the front cover can be opened up more to the motor common practice for any Buick motor.

The moment you put in a LS motor go to the car show and meet my brother the first thing he will say when he sees it is...
JUNK and walk away. Plus a few other words I can't say here. how about stick in a Turbo V6 motor, smack that LS motor around all day and you have a computer to run the show.

Again i love my Buicks... and i have it all ... SBB SBBTURBO and 455s (planned for my 69 C10 build)
AND i have a LS 6.0 powered Skylark that pushes some tough Power ( has a bunch of goodies)

I just dont get this LS and Chevy engine hate... yes this is a Buick forum, but you simply cant knock the LS & BBC or even SBC powerplants.... the LS is the result of learning from all the aftermarket stuff you guys are doing to your GM engines.

IF you think spending 5x as much for nearly the same power to JUST run a Buick is cool then Kudos to you and i wish i would have your bank account.

However in my world = Hotrods and Streetracing; a BUICK hasnt won anything and is not the choice of any serious builders.
Nostalgic builders YES and i appreciate a high power Buick but i cant and wont afford it!

PS: 5.3 low end torque = YES in stock form! , sbb 350 in stock form is also a slouch.
So lets compare $ to Power in a build sbb and a build 5.3LS .

Btw i just picked up a 05 (gen4 rods) LS 5.3 for 240$... the rod/main bearings, Rings and Gaskets (NEW) cost me 120$ shipped. LS is like LEGO with 4 size sockets 8,10,13,15
and you have a overhauled Bottom end that is ready for realistic 1000hp if needed. FACT ;)

you don't get it do you we don't hate the motors it is the cars that people stick them into I used to see all the time all the time 32 and up anything especially Fords always had a 350 Chevy in it and it was a dime a dozen every car show I would see this and most of the time I heard "It has a damn Chevy motor init." we walk away and go to the next one NO DAMN IMAGINATION when it comes to other makes at the show.
Just stick in the cheap Chevy motor Yeah it makes a lot of power so does my brothers Ford 347 with a procharger It is blowing off Hellcat's and he aint even spun it to 7 grand. but let's stick a Chevy in that Ford because it is a LS motor ooooohhh aaaaahhhhh.

you can still stick in a V6 Buick motor and the pocket book would not hurt that much.

So you have stuck a turbo motor in the Buick and have not run it yet and you don't know what it is going to do yet?
sounds like you are burning some cash to me

Ready for a big surprise take it out and stomp on it.

you had to spend Twice as much money on the Buick maybe 3 times but in the end it is a Buick

You know what your right to do this and put a chevy motor in because no one here is going to put a 350 Street Buick in the 11's so heck I would do it to let it rip. I am starting to wonder if a Buick 350 will hit 10's with a 410 gear in street trim I don't mean those NHRA guys either they are very close but they got gears

BTW I spent 8 grand total to get my motor built by a race shop back in 1994 and I did everything I could to make all parts better I went all out on everything and with a dyno session this is probably 15 grand now

You will spend that on a 455 to get 600 hp and 600 ft lbs what that not enough the car will run a high ten how much do you want? And a 455 out of the hole is nuts nothing comes out faster.

You can't drive a 1000 hp car on the street and win a race (well you can) unless it is on a roll then you will use your hp but at a stop light your toast. unless you got all wheel drive.
It really just comes down to what you want in a Hot Rod no matter what is under the hood Just think if someone stuck a Hemi motor in a Buick that would be a hoot no one would like that at all but that is what I am generally talking about.

Sorry nothing against you I mean it I just hate that stuff. just waiting to hear that turbo motor fire up

That's my rant for the day now you all can let ol Grumpy have it!

    OUCH... that hurt ;)

i get what you are saying and i agree.

At some point in this post BUDGET and Power per $ was one of the main concerns. Thats when the LS option came up.
Yes you are right my SBB Turbo needs to get out ... especially since the C10 is waiting to get in the shop...
I am moving slowly... waiting on the driveshaft now..
So i can hopefully start her soon... and hope the Sniper Efis self tuning works.

and i need the seats upholstered, damn it

I am waiting impatiently for you to fire it up, I know all too well about budget I am getting to a point where I can do a little more to motor too.
It all takes time those seats will get done I just remember my car sat in garage for year and a half with new paint on it because I had no tires and rims.
I also drove for a year with no backseat and no door panels but I had tires and rims!
It will be interesting to see how well the EFI works keep an eye out for the lean engine watch those plugs.
My brother has a AEM in his Procharged Mustang and he is still learning and trying to tune the midrange and cruise. those are the parts that burned up the last motor as his friends were helping and I guess they only know how on the floor.
So keep eye out in those areas too.

Hope you got Spicer u-joints I twised my stock driveshaft right out on 3rd nitrous run had to get all new.

I hope this doesn't mean you hate Buick engines put in other cars... :p
But I get the same feeling these days when I go to a BritishV8 meet and see... yeah, it's just another Rover V8. (Which is a SBB of course, just made of aluminum and produced overseas.) A few LS conversions are beginning to show up but they are a lot of work whereas a Buick 300 just drops in like the car was made for it... which it was, kinda. (well, the Rover, which is a Buick 215, so why not upgrade?) We do have a really sweet GT with a 455 innit. People are starting to think they'd like to have that but it belongs to the club. Nobody else is ready to build their own. But hey, it has power steering, A/C, and next week, cruise control! Believe it or not, we've been campaigning that car for 10 years now. And it all started right here on this website.
