    If you have a’75 or’76 455, your compression isn’t even 8 to 1

Yeah. I actually consider the TA 413 cam. Along with M/T Super scavenger headers and a 3" inch exhaust. Dynamax Race Bullets?

What's the best ratio if I want a TA 413 cam?

    What’s your compression ratio?

Larry, can you link your build specs?

If your ‘76 455 is stock your compression ratio isn’t even 8.0 to 1
Your going to have to increase it by at least 2 points, your compression ratio now is around 7.6 to 7.9 for a stock ‘75 ‘76 455
Your going to need better heads and new shallow dish pistons

This guy has M/T SS headers and the TA 413.

    Sounds good.

Devon, why did you pull out the 308s?
    Just curious.

Your obviously not taking in our advice,
Just because a cam sounds good doesn’t mean it’s going to perform.
If all you want is a “mean” sound, then by all means put in the biggest longest duration cam you can, it will sound bad ass, but an ‘89 Hyundai Excel will blow you away.

And by it being a 464, that tells anybody that is into Buicks that he's likely running .038+ pistons and much more than 8:1 compression ratio. By looking at that engine, he has probably did more than just swap a cam, intake and put headers on it.

Cars running big cams without high compression are the equivalent of a big-chested blonde bimbo that can't balance on her high heels. All show and no go.

    Not with 12.5 compression. :D

Who says I don't? I'm not trying to build a 8 second strip car. I want a reasonable street/cruiser car that drags attention and sounds mean. Of course I know that the cam and headers is not the only thing this guy has swapped. He has TA stage 2 heads. Just by that, says a lot...

I know that. I didn't say anything about performance. I just said I like the sound. And everyone knows M/T SS headers sound the best.

I’m a lot happier with a stock appearing, slightly rumpy sounding manifold car that runs 12.90s than I was with a mean, lopey, M/T equipped car that would run 13.5 on a good day. I might put M/Ts on the current car but I’m not swapping the cam for ‘sound’.

Broken rocker arm, flat camshaft lobe. Upgraded to Greg Gessler ported aluminum heads and TA roller rockers.

If you want a car that sounds rumpity rump, it’s NOT going to be reasonable on the street with an engine under 8 to 1 compression
