What we need is all the builders to come forward and give us the combo insted of all the hush hush ! It's to late for me but there is good guys out there that need some facts, give a price for plan B and tell people about the plan B this should have ben a standerd deal for the 455 like oil mods or sonic testing ect.,. As far as the chevy thing its hard to beat. We all want to go Fast and race BUT we all want to be safe so do it anyway you can and aford.JOE RIVECCO

Chrysler crank, Chrylser bore spacing, Maybe a new Chrylser head and intake to line up on that Chrylser bore spacing and take care of those big CID's, Chrysler Blah, Blah, Blah.....

It's been available for years.....

    http://www.indyheads.com/

If we had all been practical and just asked Indy Cylinder Heads to make a custom valve cover with the word "Buick" on it, we'd all be racing and having fun..... :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

OK, maybe not; shame on me......:spank:

I have a block with a girdle on it, can it be updated or does it require a new girdle?

I have the same questions that Alan does. I think we should start a different thread regarding "Rods' 4 bolt conversion". I'm going to do that now, we need more info. regarding this, since I broke the block of my nitrous 470ci, cost comparison from 4 bolt conversion, to the "unicorn" after-market block.

    Joe Riv,

If I remember correctly I spent quite a bit of time posting to the BBB longevity thread. This was going well until your bud (Mr. Hixon) went on a rant about the BB Chevy. This was information that COST me lots of $$$$$$$$$$$. I gave that info away for FREE. Not many engine builders are willing to give away such information because they want you to have your engine built by them. Understandable!!!

After a few phone conversations with Mr. Hixon, I also told him that you have to atleast look into the route of a BBC if for nothing more than cost. It makes total sense. If someone is looking to build and engine with 800+ HP and 7400 rpms then you have to look into the reliability of our oiling systems. Connecting rod failures take out more blocks and anything!!! I know a few BBC guys who lost $30,000 engines this year because of rod failures. It happens!!!

I have only heard of a few guys who actually broke a block. Mostly Rod who is trying to push the crank out of the bottom. But we do need this block.... Hopefully Bulldog will get it done!!!!!

    John Hixon,

I dont blame you for looking into the BBC. I am sure you will be fine with it. But making fun of someone for their ability to spell. Totally classless

I can gather the info together and post it on my website. This will give me a good excuse to roll my sleeves up and get busy! :Comp:

And I can use the info, too! :TU:

Maybe even have a section with info about the cars and the particular combos.

Point me in the direction of any info that's out there!

You guys are getting the point but, you dont all need to go out and try to install more main bolts, I made close to 1400 hp for 3 years and never had a single bearing problem, the additional bolts were just to stop the cracking, if your not cracking the main webbs I wouldnt mess with extra bolts. Also mike put a lot of thought into my block such as where; how big; and how tight; to put these bolts, if you do it wrong you may destroy a good block or distort it and cause problems. So here it is run your tollerances loose, run 20/50 oil make sure you have an oil temp gauge dont even think about flooring it untill oil is at 140 degrees. run a big solid cam keep revs below 7200, run as much oil pressure as you can get. mine goes through lights at 120psi, dont run to much timing dont run to lean. change your oil b-4 every trip to track. any q's feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info rod. john i did read your post and took notes for the future it was a good thread and your right builders are hard to get info out of them but the buick guys are few and unwilling to help others that might hurt there little step on the performance ladder. do you get what im saying john.As far as hixon i didnt think his post before his coment was bad so he didnt need that.Hixon is a good guy, he speaks his mind and is a good driver, wrench and friend.I feel his pain with the whole bbb deal.Three motors is from good people is alot to lose!So the bbc is the thing to do and so for me too.I have other buicks to race at the buick deals but will run the local points with a bbc dont like it now but thats the way i have to go for personal and sponsors reasons. So if guys like to raz the transformation they better learn the situation first. No one razd scotty g when he put a big chief motor in rods car for there quick 16 or steve cagle with his cool gs.I Need to take a break and focus on driving and get back in the game then when the time comes and when im fully convinced i will come back to my roots! Good luck to you guys on your quest and passion for your" walley trophy" IM going after mine any way i can. JOE RIVECCO :TU:

    Easy

First of Joe, Scotty ran 7's not 10's and to boot that was a long time ago. Now steve cagle like it or not lost his coolness when he jump to chev, and now I could care less about his bowtie, it's nothing special anymore.I most likely buy my speed parts from the same speed shop you guys do, I hit every race this season and then some, I'm sure when I tear it down It will be just fine like usual. I seen alot of dodge, ford and YES chev guys at the track this year that can't say the same thing.Dude I don't think you guys should be getting upset at these guys here for being loyal to there buicks, remember its your decision, you made it so you have to do what is right for you. Remember you are dealing with alot of people here that like me, were buick guy's before we were drag racer's. BBC;when people build them wrong or tune them wrong the rods will still hang out, it don't matter if it's a bowtie or a buick. I'm sorry you guys have had a tough time believe me if I lived closer I would most likely be the first one there to help you guys.Good luck with the bowties......Chris

FYI 90% of the reason scotty left buicks and went to chevys full time is because there is no money at buick races. what he races now pays huge money to win. at least that is what i gatherd
