In this day and age, who would think you would find an abandoned 74 LS4 454 4 speed Vette? Bought it at auction from the town. Getting delivered tomorrow.

Back story.....I spoke to the owner who had it towed. Older guy....maybe mid 70s. Suffice to say he was pretty hot about it. But he calmed down enough to tell me he bought it when he was 26. It's got about 43k miles. Sitting for 30 years outside. Virtually untouched under the hood

I put a breaker bar on the engine and it turned over so I know it'll run.

I think this will be a fun one

    This is my third corvette.....

First one I bought in the 90s. 77...white, brown interior. L48 auto. Guy was going through a wicked divorce. Thrown out of his house. Living in a motel. Needed money for his lawyer.....I counted the money on the hood in thr motel lot.

Second one, my friend was buying a house and there was a corvette in the garage. Pretty sure it was a 74. L82 auto. Ontario orange originally. Primer when I got it. Seller had already moved out of state and the realtor was selling it. Wound up buying it and a 8 foot bed load of parts for pennies on the dollar....

428 SCJ, four-speed, drag pack. I got the Marti report on it, it’s the real deal.

Pretty sure that’s R code, it has the shaker hood and SCJ 428 with drag pack, 4 speed. Really interesting part to me is no rear deck spoiler. Never had it.

Funny story on the first one. I just started going out with Jen. I had no place to stash the Vette. So Jen said I could keep it in her moms garage. Cool....only problem was Jen's mom had a habit of going into the attic above the garage. One day I get a call- Jen says her mom was in the attic and fell through the sheet rock. I locked up.....the vette was original paint.....

After a silence on the phone, she says, my mom is fine. Oooh, good.....any damage to the vette???? She got short with me for some reason and said yes, no damage to the car. Only a small piece of sheet rock fell on the hood.....

Honestly, broken bones csn heal, how do you duplicate original paint?

that’s great, just had a similar situation happen at home moments ago, I did not want to open the garage door to come in to my house. it was a torrential downpour of rain… If you open the garage door, it would drip water onto the cars in the garage, that’s the last thing I want to happen!

Now we know why you didn't show at the Nats. Lets see...Nats or Corvette... So the score is Mopars 1, Corvette's 1, Buicks 1. Maybe we should revoke your BUICK card:p

That Corvette has the 1 year only seat belt anti-start button mounted on the firewall, the orange thingy.

Good eye! I forgot all about the seat belt starter interlock being on the '74s. I could sure see me scratching my head and asking "why won't this darn thing start?"

Here is a 1974 video about the interlock: (1) Seat Belt Starter Interlock System & Wiring Explained - 1974 GM, Ford & Chrysler - YouTube (btw the best part of the video is 4:42 - 4:52)

The photo of the Corvette engine bay is a great "before" photo. It even has the smog pump still hanging out there. I'd love to hear the backstory of how this thing was towed and auctioned. Did the owner not even try to buy it back? I'm looking forward to your thread updates.
