Oddball problem...hopefully an easy solution! Are the daytime lamps the same physical bulb as the full headlights? If not, then I might have 2 burned out headlights.... BUT if they are the same lamp, then I have a problem. The low beam headlights don't work, never have. The high beams are fine, though. Daytime lamps work. Service manager at the dealer said I should change the diode under the dash (aluminum finned box). I did that, and no change. He checked a fuse for me yesterday, and it was good. I don't know anything about how these vehicles work, so I'm up a creek when it comes to figuring these things out myself. Anyone else have a suggestion?
Bad bulbs are the most likely culprit. Check for voltage at the headlight plug, if it's there and the lights aren't illuminated, the bulbs are out. Most likely failure if the bulbs are good is the headlight switch itself, with the high beam/multifunction switch second on the list.
Thanks guys....I'll check it out after work tomorrow. Just another nickel and dime project on this thing!! At least I can take care of most of this stuff myself..
Pull the headlight pod out and check the plugin for it. I just had this on my truck and it was the plug that was bad. The factory put a small harness on the back of the pod that plugs into the main harness so you can remove the whole headlight assembly. This plug fails. I just cut and spliced the wires together. Mike
