ron i do believe your going to have to take the bumper loose. good luck with the fiberglass ones. i hope you have a set that fits. have had alot of regal friends have a hell of a time. i was lucky enough to buy an extra set from the buick dealer when i worked there and put them away. sure enough mine were just cracked one spring when i took the car out of storage so sure enough i had to put the new ones in. had to do the rear too but the gm ones wernt available any more at that point. so i have glass ones in the back. fit decent but still arnt 100% right. i have a really nice used front drivers if your run into problems that i can send you if you need it. all though most of my regals have been 3.8's that i just put buick 350's in i had a t-top 307 car that i put a stock 72 olds 455 4bbl in and it would roast that one tire clean off the car. was an easy swap too. And just so you know, no headers on any motor that goes into a regal ever fit as they should lol.

This will be a driver and will convert into a fast BBB car but I just wanted it to sound good while driving it. Putting big rear tires, headers, engines and more seem to be a challenge. What about long studs in the metric front rotors I'm thinking I put standard 7/16 thread in 1 rotor a long time ago and I had to tack weld them in there but don't remember.

Hey Ron,nice job on what you've done to make everything fit.Did you get a chance to run this thing at the strip yet? If so,what did it run?:TU:

No still trying to finish the exaust and the airhorn still leaks on the quad. The oil pan is leaking and if tightening it up don't help that will have to be done. I need to get it out of here though and get the 455 back together to try to race the final points meet and the NMCA finals in Todds GS.

have you tried two gaskets for the airhorn? sometimes that can be a cheap, effective trick to try.

I havn't taken it off yet to see if I have another one but I will try to level it also when I get it off. Would you like to trade me an airhorn that you know is good? 17058253 is my carb #

So who has the best deal in Auto carpet and what style looks closest to factory? I don't want shagg. I noticed the carpet in this Regal looks a little like shagg.

Installing the carpet I got from Auto Parts Warehouse. I told them I was upset with the headers and they gave me a discount but after looking that was US Parts. Opps Me Bad! I got it for 156. I didn't get the mat coating since I don't need any extra weight! It was an ACC carpet.

I got some updates! I got the carpet installed. Then installed the T Type seats and steering wheel. The console is sitting there but don't think I will use it. I want cup holders so if I do I will have to fab it.
I got the bumper fillers in and pushed the right side of the front bumper out as much as I could. I still need a right bezel and marker lense, anyone? I got a grill from the guy that had the seats. I will probably paint it black but leave it crome at the top where it says Buick.

    Looking good Ron.

What did you decide on an engine?

Funny thing you asked! I found one in Kokomo for 275, I think I told you that, I'm going Friday to look at it and will probably buy it so I would like to put Flat tops with, or I will make valve reliefs, in for pistons. He said it ran fine so I might not have to bore it. That would get the compression up and then I could stay with the 403 heads. I don't want an all out race 403 but I want it to run good and sound good so I need to get the right cam. If I still own it later it will get a 455 Buick in it!
Here is a pic of doing the oil pan gasket but I have stopped doing it for now and The oil line and sending unit I made up to have a light and a gauge and the right rear 1/4 ext. that I'm getting ready for paint.

You should probably be on an Olds form since all your questions are about Olds engines and this is a small block Buick form.

I quess it would be better on The Other Bench. Can I move it or do you guys at V8 Buick have to move it? I definitely wouldn't compare a 307 Olds to a Buick any day!

Well looks like the thread is still here. I'm still trying to get the 403 block machined when I can find a trusted machine shop. In the meantime I need to get the Buick out of the garage so I pulled the pan, fighting oil chunks and grime and just got the rear main cap off and wow, 73,000 miles with no oil changes and look at this rear bearing in this 307. It looks new but darker probably due to old oil.

I shimed the oil pump spring .061 and replaced the rear maim with a BS40612 and resealed the pan. only picked up 5 LBS in pressure. and put a shorter filter on it and no leaks so far. Now trying to secure the exaust to drive it. I made an angle steel bar to mount the exaust after the mufflers but haven't secured it yet. Here is a pic of the bar and how it is mounted under the car. I have to fix it tonight becuse I broke the trans in my 91 LeSabre when I left the gas station and now 1st and 2nd gear slips in the trans.

Trying to do things when I can afford it and still need machine work to put a stock 10 second 462 in this Regal. I finally got the 800 Quad to stop leaking with 2 air horn gaskets. I made a plate to cover the EGR holes since it's not hooked up anyway. I had to cut the left side original exhaust manifold flange off and grind down the header more and put it between the head and the header to get it to stop leaking and get some room between the starter heat shield and the header tube. I got some off brand rear wheels and tires that look like Centerlines for the back and got some Centerline front runner rims from Chris Stevenson off of his mid 11 second 350 Apollo! He said I won a lot of races with those rims!! I bought 2 165/80r15 off of Ebay that were used but look new for 40 each and they should be here Thursday. I need to get an 8.5 posi unit and 3.73 gear for the 8.5 that I'm building for it.
