Tried to download pic but too big. Asking $1650, found it at local small car lot. It's one of those siver/black 75th anniv. Rivis. I used to own it, sold it to a kid who just traded it. Probably couldn't afford to put gas in it. It was a fun driver, real good mechanics, needs paint, no rust, good LOUD dual exhaust. Tranny has shift kit. Good running 455 from around mid seventies w/ Holley double pumper. Nice mags. Also needs front seat and carpet work. I can email pics it any interest. Located near Dayton, Ohio. Pence auto 937-746-9985 or 937-746-0788. Saw sign said business and prop for sale. Might deal. Roger
Here's the photo: PS: Roger, next time zoom in on the photo after the first scan, and save the image as a JPG file. You saved it as a BIT file, resulting in 1.5 MB. Now it's only 36.2 kb.... :TU:
Thanks Erik, Will try that next time. As I mentioned to you in my email and for other viewers, the photo makes the paint look way better than it is. However the vinyl top is real good and the sun roof works good and didn't leak. I guess I'm just a great photographer. Roger
Why did you ever get rid of that car! I'd take it in a heartbeat if it were closer. I always loved that body style....
I've seen you typing that before.... Why don't you fly to Ohio and drive home in the Riv..... o No: Flying and petrol is cheap in the USA, so what's your excuse ? It can't be the price of that car, we pay at least US$ 7,000.00 for a car like that. Looks like a bargain to me, even in N-America.
Simple...time. Don't have any to spare. It would have to be within about 2-4 hours driving time of me for me to even consider it. It's going to be interesting this spring to find time to go find some land to build a new house...
Was 60 deg. here today. Took my 56 out for a little spin and stopped by to take a test drive in my old 78. Started right up and drove pretty good. Forgot about the speedometer being way off like 20 mph because of the different tranny. Don't know what rear end it has. Anyway the guy said he would take $1500 so I suspect you get it for at least $1300. No mufflers at all, just a couple of small cherry bombs. Everybody can hear you coming.
Hey Roger, Looks nice. What's the body like? Any rust? What about the interior? Did you drop in the 455 and 400 tranny? Do you have pix of the interior and engine or should I just call the guy at Pence Auto? Thanks.
The car came from Miss. and it has a little surface rust. Underneath is very good. Original gray leather interior. Typical, pretty good back seat, front driver side has tears. Power seat works, power windows work. Front arm rests I put those plasic covers on which look pretty good. The previous owner put the engine and tranny in. Front headlight fiberglass panel had a couple of cracks. Chrome is pretty good. Not rusty. Mainly it needs a cheap paint job and some seat covers for the front and you would have a fun driver. Could use some carpet but not bad. Engine compartment is OK, not full of surface rust. Brake pedal is a little low. Has four wheel discs. Was that way when I got it and never checked it out. If you are still interested I could take my digital camera and take some more pics next week. By the way it also has a tack mounted on the dash and after market gauges (volts, oil, temp) mounted under the dash. All work fine. What a deal, huh? Roger
Hey Roger, I would greatly appreciate some pix of the interior and engine! A kind offer, if you get a chance. The paint looks really good in the pic you posted, even though it needs paint. Did the 78 Riv have any anniversary badges or decals? One more question, is the car "beat" and cobbled together? Or a would you say a nice "sleeper-driver"? Is solid or a rattle box? Is the A/C still intact? I'm expecting to do some work given the price, but I want to start with something solid. Sorry for all the questions but I'm quite interested. Thanks!
I will try next week to get some pics. The lot is pretty close to my part time job. The paint is original lacquer so is very spidered and cracked on the hood and trunk. The side silver is real thin. Not many dents or dings though and no rust thru. your nice sleeper driver description fits best. The 78 does have some LVXX badging. Some are missing I think. The special 4wdisc badges are there. It is very solid and drives pretty good. The A/c has been removed when the 455 was put in. The car is in Franklin, Ohio right on I75 just south of Dayton. Send me your email. Mine is rgpgbo@sbcglobal.net
Hey Fellas, This car is worth looking at. The pix are really helpful. I passed because it just wasn't right for me with considering some of the work it needed and the cost of shipping. I would think $1100-1200 buys this car. Not bad for someone willing to do the interior work and paint (or not).
