Hello everybody. First post here and new to the buick world. I recently bought a 74 apollo and since the then took the engine out. I would like a 455 but I read you need a new power steering box. But my question what other good engines can I swap for the 350. Thank you for any responses.

I put a 600 hp 455 Stage 2 motor in my sons Apollo. It was a 74 GSX. We did not change the steering box but built our own headers. 2" to 2.125 to 2.25 to a 4" collector. You will have to make your own chassis mounts and then use the stock 455 engine mounts. We also installed frame connectors. Good luck and get someone close who can help you. I do not have any pictures of the progress as we did it sorry.

Thanks I appreciated. How much would it be to make custom headers? In my pay someone to make them.

I paid my nephew to make them and bought all the bends and collectors from "Burns Stainless steel" in Calif. I don't remember but it was not cheap. Make sure you hang the starter and any engine parts that may be in the way before whoever starts them. I used a mini starter I bought from a board member. I think he is under the manufacture section. If this is to be a performance car only then a manuel steering box will help, but put the power steering box and pump on to make headers just in case.

1972 455 in mine with Electra Manifolds, pretty well an easy drop in
