Trim tags do not have the vin it's not illegal to change them. Altering or changing the vin tag is illegal in all 50 states. Here in Missouri it's illegal to even remove it during restoration falls under tampering with the vin tag

Plus as far as I know, they do not replicate GM VIN tags. I had a new tag from Marti made for my dad's 1974 F250 truck, but I had to provide all kinds of information and such. The tags for them were not on the dash, they were on the driver door. Unfortunately, I most likely will never use them as the truck is beyond repair..

There is no reason {other than to deceive a buyer} to change that tag. Laws vary from state to state, plus you have to worry about the Fed's possibly getting involved... Bad idea IMHO. :puzzled:

It's my understanding that Kevin Marti no longer provides that service. When did you obtain the replacement door tag?

Well after reading further I skim a lot. It sure sounds like the body was swapped on this one. More because all the paint and trim info is wrong. I believe that the sports coupe could be had with the sunroof its just an option after all. Ive seen several with the red carpet option and one with the gold carpet option.

I found this Dave Cross dealership emblem. It's not in the best shape, but if you are interested I can sell it to you for $5. That's just to cover the shipping.

Was the red carpet standard on a red SunCoupe? Or is it somewhat rare? I almost changed to black on mine years ago but now glad I didn't...adds to the uniqueness of it.

My dad bought a red SunCoupe right from the showroom floor back then, I was there and it had black carpet white seats and black dash. He passed that car to my other brother who f.... it up and froze the motor in Illinois. Being a Florida kid he had no clue of freezing temps. He trade it in or sold it for a 78 Monte Carlo. Idiot! I was way to young to have known or to have the money to have bought it from him. Body at that time was immaculate!

My Suncoupe came with red carpet, I'm not sure if I will put red back in it or go with Black at this point. It is getting painted right now.
