Good day fellas, I have been working on fixing my skylark up over the last 2 years and this forum's search function is an absolute asset!
When I bought the car 10+ years ago the ac compressor/lines and condenser were not there and a butcher job done to the compressor wiring. I have a large print diagram with the wiring colors, but it does not match what I have on the harness.

I have a 69 compressor, I made custom hoses and a new condenser/dryer installed. I was able to charge up by manually engaging the clutch.
So it looks like 72 had a thermal fuse and perhaps a superheat switch on the compressor that 69's did not.
I have a pinkish/tan wire, a black with pink stripe and a brown wire with no connector in that area.

Before I wire in an AC push button for the compressor, I would like to give the stock wiring a shot. Anyone have pictures of the clutch wires and/or thermal fuse wires?

    Michael

I ordered a latching push button switch, that lights blue when active. I will likely go in this direction to engage the compressor.

Just an update here.. I found that there is a tan/brown wire in the mix that is powered when calling for A/C, the longer wire in the picture above.
I used this to wire in a new clutch connector and grounded the other side. Clutch works as expected.
If I really wanted I can probably put a more modern pressure switch on the low side service port to protect the compressor in a low charge situation, however if it isn't blowing cold in the future I can just keep it off until I determine the issue.
