No my "controversial" point is not that at all. You guys fail to realize that there is a segment of this group that wants to buy a project and restore it, while doing as much work as possible at home. The joy for those guys is the work, not the monetary value at the end. Everytime a GS/GSX/stage car project pops up you guys always deem it worthless. The reality is there are 100x more finished cars available than projects. Supply isn't high for the project guy. And just because the check writer will be under water doesn't mean project guy will be, and if he is, well he won't lose sleep over it.

Joe- I agree… however, there has to be a realistic price set for the project car for the person who doesn’t care about ROI. On a project of this magnitude, what justifiability is there in spending $55,000 on a car that still needs $50,000 + worth of work- for the hobbiest (sweat equity, parts, labor, etc)?

Their best bet is to advertise on every venue, put it out for $55,000 OR BEST REASONABLE OFFER, and let those that are truly interested make a “real” offer, then sell it to the highest bidder. THAT will be the true value of the car.

I know there are many of us that have done this time and time again (you 462 Joe, GSXER Joe, and others that have commented) that know how much time, effort, energy, and money it takes to restore a car this rough. Life is too short….

Something all you doubter’s should keep in mind….almost all the needed sheet metal and both bumpers come with the car. That will be attractive to some buyers.

Your quoting me when you say this, yet in the other thread I clearly state 20. Only one person is suggesting let it rot. Your usual drive-by swipe at people or their opinions. I guess I'm just misunderstanding you again.

Are you quoting Hemmings? Where do you get this number? Anything but a number 1 or 2 car or a concours car can be considered a project IMHO.

Hahaha. You are really showing me!! My drive by swipes? Your 12 otta 10 cleary showcases your ego.. do you hate everyone that has a different opinion of you?

I'm all done here, again... the only reason I responded again is because you tried to butcher up my original point and I wanted to clarify it. You keep trying to throw mud though.

Joe, I think it’s just time that you buy this and show us all how it’s done!

I have the fair Irish skin. A convertible would never work for me. Within an hour I'd be the same color as the car.

Even though I am quoting Joe here, this is a reply solely to defend myself. Looking thru both this thread and the thread "Fair price for a '72 Stage 1 convertible", Joe has not offered his opinion on the value of the GS. I have no idea how I can hate his opinion when he never offered one.

When I was in grade school I was taught you lead a paragragh with your main thought. Joe offered he can break "us" down in to two groups. Firstly, I thought the statement was divisive in nature and secondly, was absolutely not possible because even a do-it-yourselfer is going to lay out a lot of bread. I also know writers that still do quite a bit of their own work as well. So, I did take issue, but felt I did so respectfully.

The word hate has an incredibly deep connotation to it. I don't hate anyone for their opinion and never will. To throw that word out there is not cool.

My response to the 12 comment was an effort to diffuse and make light, yet he again attacked me saying it was an egotistical statement on my part.

If a car this collectible has been known and for sale this long, clearly the selling price is too high. The market is speaking. Until it finds a new home, everyone is certainly entitled to an opinion on its value.

I am a very humble person who is quick to offer his own shortcomings. Make no mistake, my opinion, in my own mind, carries no greater weight than someone else's. Especially the good people that offer them up on this site.

Engaging in conversations here is something I highly value because this group, even though we have our collective issues, is an awesome collection of Buick Internet acquaintances, and even friends, that I have cherished for decades.

    Thanks all.

Oh please, Brian. Your "poor old innocent me" is transparent as air. You've gone after me on this thread and a bunch of others. Your eyeroll emojis, comparing DIY work to pep boys garbage is you starting all this and then refusing to let it go. I'm attacking you!? Look in the mirror!

I'm dividing the entire group? Please.. seemingly your the only one who took offense to my comments.. more "poor me".

For you to imply I thought the DIY guy wouldn't have to write checks is, well, just about the most incorrect conclusion one could draw from my original comment. I can only guess you came to that conclusion in an effort to further your tirade against me.

    You're really proving something here.

hey, if were dividing up the group someone pick me right away!!! i am already getting trauma flashbacks from junior high when i always got picked last for teams in gym class:(. seriously just trying to ease the tension boys. there are a couple guys here on the forum that do come off as know it all d-bags but maybe its because we are not face to face talking?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I think everyone is making valid points, and there is no need to make personal attacks.

The car is a project, the seller thinks it's worth more than most of us would pay for it. Time will tell what happens.

I personally struggle with the Check writer vs Do it yourself thing, and almost always come down on the side of doing it myself and driving the car. Someone else can do a frame-off later and curse my dead a$$ for all the things I undoubtedly did "wrong".

If I was going to pay someone, it would be Adam. but my cars are probably not worth his time.

Here's one selling for 45k .If you got this mess for free you would spend more than 45k to get to this cars condition.
