'72 GS/Skylark Restored Original Jack Assembly

    Here is a '72 Skylark/GS Bumper Jack Assembly - clean and restored

    >Super nice pieces to start with - not rusty, pitted, etc

    >All black pieces were beadblasted clean and they're currently finished in a satin black catalyzed paint

    >Jack base shows date code "2A 3" and ratcheting mechanism shows date code of "2A"

    >Jack hook has the correct "cutout"/notch in the upper part

    >Jack shaft was/is very clean - restored/replated with a very nice appearance

    >Tire tool and ORIGINAL tire tool rubber sleeve included

    >Parts list is as follows: jack shaft, jack ratchet mechanism, jack shaft base, bumper hook, tire tool and rubber sleeve

    Does the date code = January 3, 1972?

    From my reading of Duane's excellent book (Understanding Common Date Coding Systems for Mid 60's-early 70's GM cars) it appears that you have interpreted the date code correctly. This style of date code stamping is what he refers to as a "Year/Month" and "Year/Month/Day" stamping.
