The choke coil gasket on this 72 Riv I just bought is totally blown out. What is everyone using for a gasket?

I've been using that red high temp RTV. Works perfectly

    Hi, Adam,

I have NOS stoves, which is where the original asbestos gasket came attached to. If you still need one, let me know.

    Cheers,

I ended up cleaning it all up and making sure the housing was flat...then using red RTV. Works like a charm

    Great! Glad to hear it.

I never had any luck with that on my '72 Stage car after a few months, but hope yours is good forever!

    Cheers,

    Richard

Not sure if still available, but, AP stores used to sell exhaust gasket material in sheets and you could cut your own gasket.

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

McMaster Carr did too,I am sure they(sheets) are still available. That company has about everything.

I tried that, too, back before I found the part, and still have a nice pack of assorted gasket sheets around somewhere. You need a pretty strong cutter to cut one that will work, and we never had any luck with it--too clumsy, I guess. The holes are near the edge, etc.

However, today I am sure there are better cutters that will do the job and poke the holes, etc.

    Cheers!
