    HELLO ALL,

I am getting ready to start assembiling the front end sheet metal on my 72 project and unfortunately a lot of the original fasteners are missing and replaced with wrong bolts..

So I was wondering if there is a front end fasterner kit available for the 1970 - 72 buick skylarks? or is it possible to buy a kit for a 72 chevelle and use it as there is a ton of companies out there that offer those pre packaged bolt kits..

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated as I didn't think about this until I was ready to install these items for fit and alignment and of coarse now I am kicking myself because I will have to wait for bolts to arrive. :Dou:

    thanks,

    Dan C.

That's exactly what I need too - let me know how it works out for you.

Also, if you come across any of the plastic fasteners that hold washer hose and electrical wires to the inner fenders and core support in your shopping travels, please pass along where to get them. They seem similar to plastic zip ties (sort of.)

I had to cut the old ones away.

Anyway, I'm looking for them so if you know where to get them, please message me.

    Good luck with the project.

If you want the CORRECT plastic fasteners that have the little windows in the heads and part number on them like original go to Ames Engineering Pontiac. The only ones I have ever found that were correct. They sell two sizes. The bigger ones are for the Wheel well and firewall and the smaller for the core support. They are $2 each but worth it. II would bet the Parts Place are not correct. Let me know if you need part # but they are listed in the electrical section of Ames catalog.

Also I would be hard pressed to believe that any vendor is going to do a correct front end bolt set for a Buick. It will be based on a Chevy. Ask any of them if the know that Flint built cars and GMAD built cars used a different thread pattern on the core support attaching screws and all you will hear is crickets. Then you will wonder why when you try and screw in thier fine thread screws into your Flint car you are having to force in the screws. Call them back again and crickets again.

I wanted to follow up on my kit that I received yesterday from The Parts Place..
Low and behold it said Chevelle on the plastic bag.
It was shipped to me quickly and a lot of the bolts will cross over but some of the bolts won't apply to my front end..
Fortunately what came is what I need...

So I would give the kit about an 80% accuracy for our A Body Buicks.

Dan, that is what I heard you would get. be very careful on the core support screws. If you have a Flint built car the thread pattern was different from what they sent you.

I purchased the bolt kit and ran into the same issues, but it was much better than putting something together individually

Starting bolting together and the fine thread bolts were incorrect for my car as others have posted.. So unless your ok with doing some thread chasing out with a tap I would look to another source for a front end kit.. The 80% was over stated.. I would drop it to about 25% accurate for my car.. Ouch..:spank:

My body man should appreciate how easy this is going to unbolt when he takes it apart in the spring for paint prep....

Is there any update on this? Where would I get a CORRECT front end bolt kit? My car was built at the Missouri Plant.

    Any help is appreciated.

I doubt such a kit exists. You can buy most of what you need a la carte at:

So what about the Canadian Built cars? Course or Fine threads, Most of mine are actually great the ones I need to replace are on the bottom fenders in front of the doors. Both sides are NASTY and are causing me grief. The others are where the inner fenders bolt to the rad support (under the Battery tray Passenger Side) and under the charcoal canister on the Drivers side.
    Thanks

Note the same difference in the inner fender to fender bolts thread pitch.
