    Hello,

I'm looking for some fiberglass parts for a 72 Buick GS'"X" to lighten the weight of the car somewhat.

We are starting with the bumpers, as this seames to be the easiest job.

Can you tell me when these fiberglass bumpers are used, if all of the stock parts, lights/grill/ etc can still be mounted and will still fit ok?

Any info on the how to... part appreciated.

Also the fact that we have 72 front and rearbumpers, leaves me with the question if these will cause problems installing and with fitment with the rest of the stock parts.
Because only 70 front and rear fiberglass parts can be found for this car.

We want to add rear dragshocks ("stock" replacements), which will fit in the stock shock mounts, and are adjustable.
Any info of which ones to get...

    Robert nice car!
I know that alot of guys are using either Competition Engineering adjustable shocks that have a few different settings on them. These are made by other shock companies as well. Or the QA1 shocks which are even more adjustable for real fine tuning.

Todd, tnx yes its a nice car!
Yours is looking very nicely also.

I hope more "race" guys will reply, so I can make the right choice of parts
to get and have some more input on the fiberglass parts fitment (70 parts) on a 72 GS"X" .

KONI SPA1 shocks are a good all around race shock for the money the comp.eng shocks are kinda entry level junky.you will get what you pay for here.for fronts a set of 90/10 lakewoods will do for fairly inexpensive, make sure to use some real light front springs and loose control arms :beer

    Adam,

Do you have any partsnumbers and prices of those KONI SPA1 shocks?

Its for our 72 GS"X" with HD springs, I looked at the Koni website but they are talking about measuring your stockshocks, I don't have those.
I bought the car with highjackers in the rear and have been racing with those ever since.. :Comp:..So I'm looking now for some good dragshocks to improve the traction so I can make use of the 4000 stall convertor.

    tnx and Greetz

    Hi Robert,

I use WS fiberglass on my 72 , They are not yet on has I'm redoing the car.
Good quality, but not ready to bolt, the front is a 72 and rear a 70, I need 70 tail light for the rear as they are not the same.

Parts I have for sale if you are interrested:

Summit aluminium radiator for a body with oil cooler provision new never used.
Double Flexlite fan with thermostat new never used.
Comp. eng. drag shock 2 rear 2 front used.
South side machine lift bar used.
Moroso front drag spring never used.

I'm redoing the chassis with coil over, willwood brake front and rear, tubular arm.
    I gonna loose some weight!!

I'am in Brussel Belgium! so not too far.
Will be friday 10 march in Amsterdam.

    12.10@110 with a 350 and nitrous, i'm going for low 10 with a 455.

If you have any interest in some Aluminum Bumper Brackets you can contact Kurt Anderson at Autokraft Race Cars & Restorations

We made these up for my car and he plans to sell some eventually. They're 1 pound each. Here's a picture of the Rear Ones we made for my car. (1970):

Mine were powder coated black but you can buy them un-painted as well.

I have no idea what pricing is so you'll have to contact Kurt for that.

    Hello David,

Thanks for the parts, but I have all the good stuff allready, just need to buy me some rear dragshocks first, and then some body parts to lighten the car.

I allready have a GS fiberglass hood on the car, I'm looking at the front and rearbumpers now.
Frontfender will be a no no, doors also.

    Maybe a trunklid as well.

What did your combo drive without NOS?

tnx Adam I found the parts.

Todd, tnx also for the link for the lightweight bumper brackets.
A same they don't make the 72 front and rear bumpers.

I will ask around here, there's a shop nearby that makes fiberglass and carbon body pieces for cars.
Carbon seems to be also lightweight but much stronger.

    Keep you posted.

    Robert,

My best time was 13.30@100 without nitrous.

Best deal for rear schock are the single adjustable QA1, you don't need the double as I think that you are not racing every weekend.

I'm planning to buy the aluminium bracket for my car as I wanted to make some done here in Belgium.

WS racing is doing the front bumper for the 72.
If you are making rear one, tell me as I'm interested.

Right now my car is looking like that.
No engine anymore as he has been sold.

Hope to see you one day on the track!

I have never raced in Holland, but weel in Avon park, Santa pod, Chambley, Lurcy-lvy, Bittburg and Hockeheim. Always planned to go to Drachten, but that never happened

    David,

Nice off the line picture of your car.
Drachten is nice to race, a very large SM field there.
This year the Explosion race are 3 days (Friday-Sunday) and 3 different dates this will be fun!

Mmm I race the GSX quite alot actually, we have made between the 65 and 80 runs last season.
This was our first racing season, we going to work at the suspension for this upcoming season, we raced all 2005 season without airbags or dragshocks in front and rear, best 60 foot time was 1.75.
So we can make things go much better, and faster.

I will let you know about the 72 rearbumper.
And good to heard WS is making the 72 frontbumper soon.

Hope to see you one day, with or without your Buick.

    Hi Robert
Went trough Rotterdam and Den hague This morning (Schipol)!!
As for the 72 front bumper, WS has already one as I have buy one last year for $140.

They don't take credit card, so you have to pay with western union.
I've got friends in Switzerland and France who are racing Buick GS also.
There is also a 70 white GS runing in England, but didn't see him for almost 8 year.
    The more buick the Better

    see you
