I am re-assembling the engine and its components for a factory '72 GS A/C 455 . Does anyone have any detailed pictures of the engine area without the air cleaner installed? specifically how hoses/vacuum lines, etc are routed and where they are connected? thanks

As an example, I have the service manuals but they have conflicting images concerning the heater line connectors (one page shows one connection way[13-55], and the another page shows it to be opposite[13-59]).

    dbenichou455,

Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can send you the pics that I have. I am doing a frame off 72 Stage 1 car and have amassed a lot of information/photo's that may help you.

Could you go into a little more detail about your question? Both heater hoses come out of the firewall together, and go over the passenger side valve cover. The larger one (3/4") goes to the top of the timing cover, the smaller one (5/8") goes to the heater control valve. The heater control valve sits on top of the upper A/C bracket and has a rubber cushion that installs on it. There is a short length of hose from the heater control valve to the intake manifold.

I think you answered my question for the example I listed about the heater lines....although I don't recall the heater core having 2 sized outlets. For example: H/C outlet closest to fender goes to timing cover or to the control valve/intake? I will recheck the heater core outlets tomorrow and that will probably answer my question on that.

But essentially, the answer you provided is what I am looking for. I have to install the heater lines and all the vacuum lines (plus any other lines, electrical as well, I find) and am unsure where they are connected and how they are routed. pictures of all of these connections would be helpful. Currently going through the search feature of this forum looking at pictures - some good pictures have been found, others I still need a bit more info :)

The heater hoses are definitely 2 sizes. 3/4" and 5/8". That's only 1/8" difference. Look carefully at the heater core nipples. The difference will be obvious.

This is a picture I have of my 70 when I was fitting a Holley carburetor to it. You can see the heater hoses and Heater control valve.

The engine harness wires run down the passenger side of the intake manifold. There is a metal shield that bolts to the center valve cover bolt, and the harness runs between that and the valve cover. In 1970, it looked like this,
