The boot on my Skylark has this funky way of fastening to the area just above the rear seat. Somehow or another you are supposed to be able to slide this "welt" into the long skinny channel on the metal rail above the rear seat. It seems to be an impossible task as the welt is about 3 times bigger than the metal channel that is supposed to receive it. I am considering installing metal snaps as an alternative. Without fastening the boot down in this area the boot acts like a parachute at highway speeds.

What have you done to make this work? Does your boot fasten in this area or is it just me?

Mine slides across as it should. Guessing yours has wrong diameter welt (aftermarket?)...:Do No: Maybe upholstery shop can replace with correct welt...

Hi Lee, I have an original 1971 Skylark GM boot in great shape at my shop. www.precisionautorestorations.com .You can have it if you stop by and pick it up. It would solve your fitting issue. Let me know. Steve
