My 71 gs clone has the 455 bored 30 over but it has the non posi 2.56 which litterly sucks. Looking for some advice on either upgrading the axel to a posi 373 or trying to find one for 1000 bucks. Wouldnt mind building it up but I’ve never done this before so am I getting into something I’ll regret.

You can easily get everything you need out of the Jegs or Sumitt catalogs. I have a 1971 GS350 rear in my car at present. I upgraded the axles to Moser 30 spline, an Eaton Posi, and Yukon 3.73 gears. I had a shop set it up. If you plan on setting it up yourself, I'm sure Monzaz or Brian Trick could advise you further.

You already own the good housing,so just build that. Where are you located?

I’m in northeast Ohio. What gear ratio would you suggest? I have a TCI streetfighter TH350 with the 455 so not sure if not having the TH400 makes a difference - thanks

For the street, 3.23's or 3.42's. for more of a strip oriented street/strip set up, 3.73's

If you are in Northeast Ohio, you should give Monzaz a call. He's a member here and is in Richfield, OH. He built my rear end to spec for a very reasonable price.

I’m an hour east of Cleveland,in Erie,PA,and Jim is in Richfield,OH,so you have two guys real close to you. What are your plans & expecations for the car? Do you have AC or no.
The TH350 is fine. A good TH350 will last behind a 455. Plenty of people do it.
