I am looking for a convertible specific mirror bracket for a 1971 Skylark. The one that is on my car now is from a hardtop and has been cut & modified. It holds the mirror OK but does not look right - something is obviously missing.
OK, I just got back from opgi's website and saw the picture of the bracket. The one that I have that has been cut is very close. There is a trim piece that goes between the L & R windshield header covers, it covers the gap between the two header covers and the small area above the mirror bracket, I need to find this trim piece.
I have a mirror off my 71 convert I would sell. I would sell the hole mirror for $25 plus what ever shipping is. Thanks let me know.
Correct. I am having a tough time finishing off that area above the rear view mirror. So far I have made a piece from sheet metal, it's passable but it's not 100%.
Did you see the 71 convertible on craigslist in Dallas? Also sorry I thought you were looking for out side mirror.
I know I have one of the conv vinyl covers in Saddle, I have no extra black ones. (They were color keyed to the interiors.) This is the piece that the convertible sunvisers clip into and the mirror bracket runs through. If you need more then that I will have to check to see what I have. Also I will need to know if your car has a lighted mirror or not as some of the mirror brackets are solid for the non-lighted mirrors. Duane
I have a vinyl cover, what I am looking for is the piece behind the vinyl cover. It seems to be strictly cosmetic. Maybe someone with a 71 convertible could post a picture, if not I can post a pic of what I have later today.
Post a pic of what you have and what you need and I will see what I have left. We parted out lots of rotted out 70-72 A-body convertibles over the years. Duane
I made a temporary piece out of sheet metal and painted it black, you can see it in the pictures. If necessary I could actually spend some time and make one that looks half decent but I figured an original piece is what I really need.
OK, First off the mirror bracket and Black Vinyl assembly you have are from a coupe not a convertible. The vinyl trim piece the visers clip into is much larger on a convertible. The correct conv piece will fill in the gap between the two steel trim pieces completely. There is no "steel" trim piece for the mirror bracket. You may also need the mounting bracket that screws into the windshield surround. I do not have a coupe bracket available to compere the two. I checked and only have the trim piece available. It is Saddle and would need dyed black. Duane PS. If you want to see one installed on a car, come over to the house and you can see one on my 71 Skylark conv.
