It looks as though the (THE PORTED) Edelbrock cylinder Heads are good for more than a mild street head ... 703 hp@6000 & 650 ft lbs @ 5100. The camshaft is smaller than a TA 308s & the engine is 464 & runs on E85 fuel to boot.

I wonder what the final compression ratio was. Also, what size carb were they using?

Looks to be a 4500 HOLLEY "Dominator set up for E85 fuel. I will check on the comp. ratio , they sure are building a lot of power with a basic stock stroke & bore (.038) over std. If you go to Scotts web site there is a lot more info on this build & others. It does use custom rods & a girdle ,also custom pistons. It looks as though this engine is now installed in a 3900# Buick of some type maybe a sleeeeeeper ?:3gears: If you click on the site listing on my first post it will get you there & just click on blog.

Barring differences between flow benches, that's the equivalent of my Gessler level 3 TA Stage 1 SE aluminum heads at 0.600" valve lift.

Whew! Pretty stout numbers for the Eddy group. Who did the port work, and how much would it cost to achieve similar numbers?

Devon, with the compression you're running and the 308 cam, do you have any "speculated" hp numbers with the heads you have? I can't help but wonder what the 308 cam would do hp/tq wise at these numbers.

Anyone have any idea what hp/tq numbers are possible with similar flow numbers, 308s cam and 12.5 to 13:1 compression?

It would cost about $1100 to duplicate the port work.

The compression ratio is over 13 to 1 to best utilize the E85. A custom CP flat top was used.

The Rods are a 4340 Pontiac Forging that was modified to fit the stock crank by Bobb and Geof at Finishline. They did all of the blockwork including fitting the halo girdle, line hone, decking, and bore and hone with plates. Outstanding work.

    Hi David,

I haven't a clue and would hate to speculate. The new heads and new 294-04F cam have been in place only since this summer and the car is far from being track legal, so we'll have to see. I am at the moment held back RPM-wise by stock rods, heavy pistons and no block reinforcement. I have a set of TA billet rods and block/halo girdles on the shelf for the next big jump, but it's not in the budget, so the MSD box has a 6000 chip in for insurance right now. To do those things will require big mods with the crossover under the engine and more oil help to take advantage of the parts. I'm on the street only at this point. On top of that, if it gets traction, I'm afraid I'm gonna spit out the two-piece driveshaft too, so I have to keep that in mind as well.

Devon, sorry, I forgot you went with the 294-04F cam. I knew you were VERY partial to the 308. So far, do you have any regrets, or are you glad you made the change?

Thanks for the all the open dialog about this thing. $1100 plus the price of the heads isn't bad at all for those numbers. I hope to be able to get them on the payroll this coming Spring for a build up of my own, hence all the annoying questions:laugh: . Thanks again!:beers2:

Hard to say! I made too many changes at once, so to hell with the Scientific Method.

Do I like the combo now, YES. But for the track, it leaves a lot to be desired. Click the link in my signature for the nitty gritty so far.

It's good to see with intelligent porting & integrated camshaft design the Edelbrock heads can generate a good dollar / power ratio . I can't stop thinking about all the times I have read that these heads won't build power @ the level of the TAs .... well in the right hands my guess is they will.

Thanks guy we much appreciate your compliments.

The reason we are not on this board as a vender is we are a small as some call us Hobby shop and there is a fee to be part of this board as a vender and for many that maybe fine but it would take way from where we tend to put our extra cash. This year we have sponsored 5 Buick events and have given away over 3000 dollars in CASH not coupons or discounts Cash Money. We feel that we would rather give back to those who support our business and the Buick community as a whole that way, rather than buying advertising on the internet. Many vendors that do way more business than us dont step up and help the little events and we feel that it does more for the community as a whole to support as many as we can while still being able to maintain our business.

And yes John this is the world famous BOBB MAKLEY Know it, yell it and love it baby. LOL
