Does anyone know off hand if the door panel emblem on a '70 w/the base/std./no-cost interior is the same as the '71 emblem used on the deluxe interior?

I'll look it up in a parts book otherwise but could use an answer sooner than later:). Thanks.

The GS emblem was on the cars with the deluxe interior. The Skylark had the Custom emble with the deluxe interior.

I'm quite sure that the rectangle '71 emblem showed up in '71

This is a 13K original mile, numbers matching, Aquamist '70 Stage 1 4-speed I owned back in 1991.

    Bare bones, bench interior.

Zoom in to the top left of the photo.

Were those emblems like the '71? We never saw too many bare bones cars around here. Always learning new stuff about these cars.

The 70 GS Standard interior door panel emblems were very similar to the 71-72 GS door panel emblems.

I am not sure if they were exact, but if not they are so close that it probably wouldn’t matter.

…..and please I know the 72 Deluxe Coupe door panels (with the wood grain) did not come with them, but the convertibles did.

The '70 base/std. interior vs.'71 embmem is slightly different. From the front I think they look the same they same even but one of them ('70 IIRC) has an extra mounting pin. 71 Door panel emblem 2.jpg IMG952231.jpg 71 door panel emblem 1.jpg IMG952232.jpg

Also, hard to tell for sure from the pics I posted (I don’t have either emblem here) but now that I look at them it appears the '70 emblem is flatter and the '71 emblem has more of a beveled edge & that the black border is wider at the bottom.

My 72 interior had the tri- color Buick crest, I believe the 71 did too?

I was thinking the same thing, that my 71 GSX had the tri-color Buick Crest.

    Maybe that was the difference.

I forgot that I have do have the orig. off my '71 here. Will have to check if the tri shield is colored. Pretty sure @Rich Johns has an orig. '70 car w/these emblems. Will have to ask him about the tri-shield on them.

When you first posted the pics of the emblems I was thinking about the tri shield being black and didn’t remember that on my 71.

My '72 GS was built in October 1971 in Fremont with deluxe door panels. The orig panel were still on the car when I purchased it in Sept. 2000 and were still there when I sold it. When I had the panels, off u could still see the old glue on the inside of the panel.

    The old glue from what?

The emblems were attached to the door panels with push on clips on the 2 studs. The short pin was simply an alignment pin.

If you look really close on the pic of the emblem in Dano’s hand you can see one of the clips.

    There was no glue involved.

I can't directly answer your question. I can show you the old emblems off my original 1970 door panels.

Interesting. Thanks. The ones I above that I thought we're '70 have an extra pin but hard tell the edge profile on either. On the pic Matt posted it's easier to see. Can you post a pic that shows the edge better?

    Dano,
That “extra pin” you are talking about is the short alignment pin. I believe they all had them.
