I have a 70 GSX 4 speed car with front disk brakes and am redoing the brakes. The dual master cylinder is rounded looking and has the proportioning valve on a brake line right near the master cylinder under the hood. My questions are does anyone know the part number for the correct master cylinder? Also, is that unique to 70 GSX's? Is it availabel somewhere as a rebuilt part? The master cylinders I see on Year One's web sit are all not the same as what's on my car.

I appreciate any help. Thanks, Paul

    Hi Paul -

I believe this MC was also used on '69 - '70 Buick 'A' bodies with disc brakes (and possibly other platforms), as well as corvettes (and possibly camaros) of the same era.

Make sure you find ones with side bleeders as it's correct for your GSX.

Most places will not have the correct one - you should post a wanted ad here or check ebay as they pop-up from time to time.

Also, please consider registering your GSX in both the factor stage1 registry and the GSX registry if you haven't already done so - thanks!

Have your core resleeved, rebuilt and repainted by Jim Weise on this Board . He did this for the one off our 70 GSX and it looks better than new. It is unlikely you willl find any thing other than a core to redo at best so use you old one.

    Thank you Paul!

As Jim suggested, if you still have your original get it rebuilt and brass sleeved.

When I sent my original to be rebuilt, I didn't know JW did them. I used a company in CA called www.powerbrakeexchange.com - I had them do the master cylinder, power booster, and metering valve. I believe the guy who did them, "Booster Dewey", left the company and can be contacted Here if you choose this route.
