I recall a conversation about such a car a number of years ago. It was the beginning of a conversation about my 71 Cortez Gold Convertible being that car. I was at a car show but I don't remember which one. I know it wasn't the GS Nationals so it must have been here in Denver around 1995-1996.

I didn't know you could get a non stage car with a 3.64 rear. I'd love to see a pic since my hardtop is also cornet gold.

You could special order a range of "performance axle" ratios from the factory, I believe. Also, you could order from the dealer. I had a '70 GS 350 that had 3.64's (not 3.23 std. ratio and not 3.42's) ... an 'OO' coded axle ... never should have sold the car with that axle, though.

You could get a 3.64 rear as long as the car was non AC.Being a stage1 had nothing to with it.

That was an optional rear for sure but it is the first 70 non stage 1 GS 455 I have seen with the optional 3.64 rear. I wonder if it was specially ordered for a customer?
