I'm looking for an NOS shift knob for the column shift automatics in the 70 Skylark/GS.
Let me know what you have.

    Thanks

Still looking for a 70 Skylark/GS shift knob part no# 1230813. Like the knob in the picture I stole from this site. 70 shift knob.jpg

I think they might be different as if its a standard column or tilt column.
    But...maybe not?
    Which column do you have?

    I have the non-tilt column.

This part has been almost impossible to find for several decades, but good luck! Pretty sure it's the same for tilt/non-tilt. I had to use one from a Regal, I think. Matches fine but is just a little longer. I have a N.O.S. one I might part with if you are interested. Let me know and I will take a pic!

Tilt and non-tilt levers are completely different where the end enters the column. They are not interchangeable.

I and others have used “good used” shifter levers out of California, for the Concours cars.

You might want to go that route if you can’t find anything.

Or install an NOS end of a super clean lever arm. I see the ends come up for sale every now and then.

Oh, I wasn't talking about the levers, just the plastic knob at the end.

    Got ya,
Yeah I think the plastic knobs are the same for 70, and the other style would be correct for 71-72.

I bought a NOS 71-72 gear shift knob pictured on the left but the ID is bigger and length is is longer as compared to the original on the right (missing the black end). I could make it work with a ID bushing of the right size but would like to find the correct one. IMG_0407.jpg IMG_0407.jpg

Pretty sure that's the one I used, and for which I have a spare. I don't remember the hole being larger, forcing me to use a bushing, but maybe; it was years ago.

A big Thank You goes out to Frank St. Elmo (mrolds69) for alerting me of the knob I needed had just popped up on EBAY. I purchased it right away. Now I have a 71-72 NOS knob if anyone needs one.
    Thanks again Frank!!

You're welcome, happy to help you out Glen! I kind of just stumbled on to it looking for something else, it was a really fresh listing. Thought of you and figured I'd PM. I'm glad you snagged it.
