Doe anyone have some good pictures of the reproduction 70-72 Buick Dash Bezel with the wood grain installed. I read there are some issues with fit and other issues.
Hey there Al! Long time. Welcome back. Here are some pics of the reproduction dash bezel and wood grain kit. Some trimming required on the wiper switch hole and the cigarette lighter piece, but I was pleased with the finished product (except the missing blacked out edge compared to the originals).
Todd carries them at www.dcmusclecars.com also CARS in New Jersey www.oldbuickparts.com does as well.
No one...but a couple are really close. CARS has an updated version that you have to specify when you order. The other one that I have used is from this seller on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/232985494635 Get some popcorn and read this thread: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/dash-woodgrain.349234/
Been shopping for the correct wood grain kit and have not seen one, looking into just going with the black set, Any one seen a kit that is offered like the ones originally made by GM? Adam, Thanks for the follow up! This company is Speedway, the feed back on Ebay made me pause a moment, AL.
This question has gone round and round! Does the n ewer version of CARS have the correct back lighting and grain? All the ones I have seen lately have the back lighting white, incorrect should be blue and the wood grain should be completely blacked out.
CARS new one has good backlit LETTERS only. Also, the climate control is tinted in blue. And as I posted in the other thread, the grain is shiity. Pick your poison...none of them are 100% correct.
Adam, thanks for your follow up. I'm clear on this now. I agree with you on your choice and that is the route I will be going. I did buy the the ones you recommended and the grain and sheen is nice. You may have read the other post on getting the best out of both worlds. My heater control still has the black original transfer on it and plan to just place the new transfer from Speedway over to of black original and use brighter back light. That's how it is now, not very bright with the standard 194 bulbs but we can fix that.
Why can't someone just make the stuff correct and charge whatever it takes? If you can get the back-lit letters right, why not the woodgrain?
I am at this point.dash apart. Waiting for vacuum valve for heat. My Gs has blacked out bottom. Does the wood grain just go over the black? The climate control sticker is shot. Remove and install new? I see I can get blackout stickers and wood grain. WoodgraIn kit on sale and it looks nice here. Real nice 72 Stage 1. Just trying to decide. My car is not correct 100 point car but real 1970 GS 350 car in my family 33 plus years. Trying to do my best with it. I have bought parts from Todd this week and he has been real cool about it. any advice is appreciated. I do know be careful of wattage in heater control spot. I melted mine w 194 and will use 161 now. Chris
I bought the cars inc kit. On sale 35. It looks ok.im sure not correct but a heck of a lot better than my old worn n faded dash. Worth it to me. I just want to enjoy my car. Not argue. Save your arguments for who is faster. And line em up !!!!
Did CARS have "blackout" stickers for the lettering for a dash w/o woodgrain? I'm admittedly being lazy here & could look it up but then I wind up on their site for an hour. @Briz sells the black climate control applique & I already got that.
Blackout stickers for lettering? I thought you meant the replacement control stickers. That I don’t know what you mean.
The climate control bulbs are 1893 bulbs, not 194, 161. The 1893 bulbs are also used in the Tachometer/Clock lighting. I just converted my instrument panel to all LED lighting. From what I see, most of the climate control panels are melted/warped where the bulb holes are. The incandescent bulbs make too much heat. The LED bulbs don't.
1893 twist in bulbs 194 pop in. My cars all done n back together. Just need to redo fuel system and get my qjet on.
